Little spots on the fan leaves

4 weeks into 12/12
FFOF Soil ; been fed only twice since repot since the OF soil was mighty rich to begin with and plants looked healthy.

Well everything about this plant looks normal except for these spots that are starting to form on some of the fan leaves. I finally got a way to post some pics so here are a couple of them. The pics aren't that great but you can kinda see some of the little spots on the fan leaves. The light was better in one of the pics but you can still see the little spots/specks on them.

Looks like thrips to me...got any closeups of the damage?

Check the bottoms of the leaves...if there's greenish black specks it's most likely the waste left by thrips.

Could be spider mites, but the damage isn't even enough IMO. If you look at the bottoms of the leaves with a microscope or strong magnifying glass you'll be able to see if it's mites...

Lights just went out but tommorrow when the lights come back on I will try and take some closer shots. And I'll check the undersides of the leaves as well. Thx for the help Sandman.

Yea most likely thrips. You won't be able to miss them they like said prior like to hang out on the bottom of the leafs. How much longer do you have in 12/12. I actually wouldn't start spraying right now, but at the same time if you still 4 or 5 weeks they could get really bad. Break out the neem on your clones if you have any. It is ok to spray in 12/12 as long as it is early in 12/12.

I hate lil bastards but they can be controlled if you stay on top of it. Sometimes it's more work than fun but then it's still fun. :D

Good luck Bro.

Looks like thrips to me rather than RSM :badday: you can get a preditor for thrips - I would not use neem at 4 weeks - in my experience neem needs to be used every 3 days for 2 weeks - which would take you into week 6 - though I agree with Mr Mo - Neem your 18 hour room now!

- I dont think you are in the UK but if you are www.defenders.co.uk for a good deal on preditors - good luck

Looks like chloroplast damage from a fert problem to me and not thrips/mites. Check for thrips/spider mites easily by taking a piece of white paper and shaking the leaf/flower over it. They are quite small like the size of a piece of pepper or smaller. If no thrips/mites then then check ph of your soil by doing the pour through method. After watering/fertilizing, add a small amount of distilled water to the top of the pot and test the ph of the runnoff coming from the drain holes. It should be around 6. You should also be adjusting your ph to around 6 in your fertilizer water.

So I checked for thrips and mites and found nothing. Looked underneath the leaf and did the white paper test all came out negative. I did the pH runoff test using rev. osm. water going in at 7.2, with the runoff at 7.0

Here are a couple closer up pics:

i agree, there is no insect damage there........ are you using an ozone generator ond what are your temps?

could also be a salt buildup in the soil, ie. flush time.

Things can sure seem to get a bit tricky when these plants are put into flower for a number of weeks. Now, it seems that your ph is a bit high but, I'm not sure that it's enough to show up on the leaves like that. Could be that the plant is just beginning to eat itself as mj tends to do when it's been in flower for a while. From what I can see in your pics, things don't look too bad really. If they were my plants & the buds seemed to developing nicely, I don't think I'd get too excited. Certainly not to the point of taking any herioc measures anyway. Just try to get your ph down a little & keep an eye on things.

Good luck man.

Salt buildup is a possibility for sure. No ozone generator. Temps are in the mid eighties. I will try to get that pH down a bit. This could just be a overly sensitive pheno of the strain that I'm growing here. There were 4 females out of the 10 seeds and the other 3 have no such problems. And as far as I can tell they were put in almost identical growing conditions. I'll be growing this pheno out for sure just to make sure this isn't some fluke that's happening here. Thank you all.
