LITTLE GREEN CATERPILLAR

MID TOWN

I found two of these little caterpillar lookin things. They're about 1/4" to 3/8" long and they were burrowed into small little bottom nugs. The only reason I notticed them is because the little nugs that they were in were dead and moulding.:badday:

If anyone knows what they are or how to get rid of them, the info would be much appreciated!

THANKS, MID

KILL them ALL as fast as you can! These little mofuckas DesTroY crops! My folks lost almost 3 lbs too them! I dont know the best method, but in the meen time pick them off and stay on top of it... Try going to the local nursery and bring one of um with you, probly get some caterpillar killer or something cuz Im pretty sure they are in the same family, pretty sure they turn into moths. In the california foothills they hang down from oak trees in the spring. Good Luck.

they seem to be the only bugs that fuck with my outdoor garden but i keep my plants sprayed with safers BT caterpillar killer that stuff keeps caterpillars away. its an organic bacteria that only killers caterpillars works like a charm. only other way is to hand pick them

You might try "BT" or Bacillus Thuringiensis I used to use it on vegetables like cabbage and broccoli for worms just like the one shown. It works very well and is safe for people. You can eat the vegetables the same day.

I would think it was safe for weed too but don't know. Essentially, it's a bacteria that "eats" the worm from the inside out.

From the internet:

Mode of Action

When conditions for bacterial growth are not optimal Bt, like many bacteria, forms spores. Spores are the dormant stage of the bacterial life cycle, when the organism waits for better growing conditions. Unlike many other bacteria, when Bt creates spores it also creates a protein crystal. This crystal is the toxic component of Bt.

After the insect ingests Bt, the crystal is dissolved in the insect's alkaline gut. Then the insect's digestive enzymes break down the crystal structure and activate Bt's insecticidal component, called the delta-endotoxin. The delta-endotoxin binds to the cells lining the midgut membrane and creates pores in the membrane, upsetting the gut's ion balance. The insect soon stops feeding and starves to death. If the insect is not susceptible to the direct action of the delta-endotoxin, death occurs after Bt starts vegetative growth inside the insect's gut. The spore germinates after the gut membrane is broken; it then reproduces and makes more spores. This body-wide infection eventually kills the insect.8
