Little ACE report PCK, Congo

L.S.,

I have been growing in The Netherlands for 20 years, mainly Durban Poison and strains like Voodoo (DP) guerilla style. I like to smoke tropical imported material. As I moved to the mediterranean and came across ACE strains I wanted to give it a go.

I bought 1 fem seed of Malawi, Bangi Haze, Congo and PCK. I started indoors in january under led in a Blynx (see this forum) style cabinet. The Malawi sprouted but died by unknown cause, bangi went into guerilla and died due to heat and drought, my landscape is garrigue/mesquite with no real rain since May.

The Congo did well and a few clones + mother went to the garden into Plagron royaltymix substrate end of May. They turned into very nice tropical narrow leaf plants, it has been a long time since I have had this type of plant (from brickweed). I flowered the clones july-sep by moving them into a dark bathroom almost every day. The mother started flowering early Oct. I like the material, really stretchy open flowers, it is not strong as in active compound per gram but a good dose give a strong high, lovely "dazed and confused" type of effect. Now the material has aged a bit it smells like tropical weed.

The PCK started outside as seed end of May as well, ending also in Plagron royaltymix. Different plant, broad leaves "in cones" at the end of stem, with very little branching. It responded less good to training (scrog) than the Congo (and a durban), the stems were stiff and it tended to push the support frame up. It started flowering end of august and I cut it mid oct.

The Durban (Dutch Passion) I started as a scrog but grew(too) big, I had to make a screen with flowers to hide it from the neighbours. It was basically a 2.5 meter plant condensed in a ball shape. I know this strain well and it does well, the season being a month or more longer than in the North. It yielded good, very leafy weed in comparison to the Congo, it looks like indoor/indica mix weed with broadish leafs covered with crystals. This plant didnt grow out its buds on top but filled the internodes with leafs, not so much with flowers, genetic variation or a side effect form feeding too long, there was very little yellowing of lower leafs during flowering. Congo and pCK "yellowed up" normally.

All 3 plants had varying amounts of spider mites, increasing as the heat and drought continued, with the PCK showing the most damage and the Durban the least. Next time I might hit them with water and soap a few times when I see mite numbers growing before flowering.

So, in short, I am happy with ACE. I was in love with how my Congos looked and the smoke is perfect. PCK gave lovely looking weed as well, I still need to smoke it to evaluate the effect. I look forward to next year, zamaldelica and ethiopia are on my wish list.

Best,
P

Hola Podenco,

Thanks for sharing with us your first outdoor experience with ACE genetics.
A pitty the Malawi and Bangi Haze seedlings didn't make it, it's important to protect the new outdoors seedlings until they are strong enough.

Hope you are enjoying with Congo sativa effects and with the old school hashplant vibe of the PCK. Hopefully your experience motivates you to keep exploring our catalog in upcoming seasons. Best regards!
