Liquid cooled Balast

Hey guys in the market for a light. I was looking at the lumatek digital 600w liquid cooled balast. I was hoping you guys could recommend a bulb and reflector. Also was wondering if I would be able to position the light closer to the plants due to the Liquid Cooling. Also do I have to worry about running exhaust for the balast. Thanks

If the ballast is remote it won't affect the temp of the bulb.

I don't see how liquid cooling would help all that much, maybe a 600w but my 250w core is barely discernibly warm with just a small computer fan and CPU heat sink.

As for reflector, check out pico's thread and testing of some different designs.

My view on bulbs is that the cheep ones are fine, but I've never used a special grow light yet and don't feel the need to.

ive never heard of a liquid cooled ballast......seems pointless....lot of engineering for something you could just run outside of the room.....you sure you were not thinking of liquid cooled bulbs???

It already has a reflector. Removing it could mean electrocuting yourself to death. Its what keeps the electricity from the water.

As to lamp, they don't seem to know if they're selling a 600 or a 1000 so, make sure you grill them on what it is they're selling.

Well I'd rather run a light and refector that has been tried and true. As I learn, I plan to play with lights. For now I want to get the basics covered. I need a good 600w digital balast, with a good reflector and bulb for flowering. Going to be running a 4x6 ebb n flow with rock wool plugs and blocks set into clay.
