I would like to share with you all, an invention that I've thought about building for a long time now. A little over a month ago I finished setting it up, and I've had it running ever since then (or when the plants went into the room).
I would like to introduce to you all the Linear Fan Mover
The mounting of the fans to the 2x4
And the heart of the linear fan mover, the linear light mover.
This is my solution to oscillating fans. You can add many more fans to the set-up, making it even more adjustable. The fans can be raised or lowered. Since it's a light mover it has an adjustable delay so you can adjust how long it will pause at each end.
Parts
1 light rail kit w/ 6ft track and motor
1 add a lamp kit, slave trolley, 3/8 all thread ("push rod")
1 slave troll (2 trolleys, including the one from the add a lamp kit)
2 eye bolt (must be large enough for the all thread to pass threw the eye, NEED 4 nuts for eye bolts)
8 nuts 3/8 thread
1 2x4
2x4 or similar piece of wood to mount to the ceiling, which you then mount the rail to. (If it's your board is longer then the rail, you have a longer mounting surface)
2 eye screws
2 heavy duty S hooks
Wood screws, long and short (with this set up you need to screw two screws into the board to act as the stops for the mover because the stops that come with the light mover kit don't work when the slave trolley are used)
