Lil' project in mind, Donut Vertical Scrog

Hello everyone !

I'm totally new to growing things, i'd like to give a try and see how this adventure goes. I've been searching around for a moment now, and i think i'm getting close to what i'd like to have taking in consideration my personnal limits (constraints ?).

I'll have to deal with a small surface, and the desire to grow some wildz Sativas ! For these reasons, i wanted to maximize my space, optimize it the best i can.
One thing leads to another, i've heard about vertical donut / colosseum style which could be perfect for me.
Also i have a hard time finding information or experience from other growers in my country because it's not very popular yet... I went to my growshop this afternoon, and when i showed him the idea of Vertical Donut, he was kinda 'meh'. It's okay, i know there are some very successfull results around this website ;). The thing is, these growers are running some nasty equipement i can't afford / don't want in my house... Let's have some numbers instead of blah blah !

Grow box :
60x60x160 cm (0.36 m² / 0.72 m3) (3.87 ft² / 25.427ft³)

Lights :

250w HPS
250w MH or 250w CFL (Veg) not sure yet
Electronic ballast Lumatek 250w

Extraction :

Prima Klima 2 speed 220-360m3/h --- 129.48-211.88 CFM (if the math is done correclty)

Carbon Filter :

Prima klima 360m3/h

Intraction :

I planned to let it passive, but my growshop advised me that a small one (like 15€) would be better. I'll test the room before buying it.

I found a very nice Sketchup drawing from another thread (https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=271107) which explain pretty well the idea of my project. All the credit goes to touchofgray, by the way i hope it doesn't bother you if i use your work, please let me know :)

So, as you can imagine there will be a honeywell fan under the light (set on low speed) for the virtual cooltube, and i'll tie the net to a few bamboo sticks. My DIY skill is below sea level :D

And finally, this setup will be welcoming some sativas like i said, planning on Nepal Jam and Malawi (ACEseeds) for a start. Not both of them at the same time of course. I'd say i should start with the first one to gather some experience in this new world. I kinda fear the malawi's stretch and i hope i'll master it by forcing here rolling around the net, and the good pot size.

I still have A LOT of questions about this project as i don't have any experience, nor references from other growers running a similar setup. Or couldn't found them.
Will i have heat problem ? What about the wild malawi in this small space ? Even if i don't have the fence measures yet, i'm wondering if the light radius will handle it correctly...

Finally, i'm not sure about the right forum section for this thread between the Growroom Designs & Equipement and Vertical / colosseum Growing, i'll open it here, if your logic is different than mine, let me know :)

Thanks for every readers, if you have any idea about all this, i'd really appreciate !

Have a nice day ;)

Put this in the vert forum and u will get plenty of help. I love vert donuts. Ive been growing for a lot of years and have tried almost every way u can think of. I have found no better way to get great yields off of large plants with low plant numbers. What would u like to know?

'Morning Miraculous Meds, that was a fast answer for sure, thank you for showing up :)

Maybe you'r right, this should be moved to the Vert' section. Dang i knew it ahah.

I hoped for some feedbacks regarding this kind of setup as it will be my first attempt. I mean, is this a logical and coherent setup between space / light / extraction / strains / way of culture ?
Since most people do this with badass equipement from 400w to a few kw, it's pretty hard for me to 'transpose' it to a tiny 250w.

I don't feel like copy this to the Vert' section is the way to go, if a moderator could move this in order to avoid flood, it would be great, and sorry for the mistake !

In the end, i think i'll give a try anyway and let you guys know how this is going. I may not be the only one looking for a small Donut setup, so if it can be usefull for some peeps around, i'd be glad.

Mmh, Google seems to say that 60cm is equal to 1.96 feet (1 foot 11⅝ inches), looks like i forgot to 'translate' these measures, sorry 'bout that.

ok so we are looking at 2'x2'x a little over 5' tall then it sounds like. I don't have vert experience with 250 watters but all the concepts should be the same just proportionately smaller.

So with any set up its all about getting ur canopy as full as possible without over crowding and to finish at the correct distance from the bulbs. So I think we can figure these things out and get u close to dialed in and u can learn how to adjust it a little better on the very next run.

I would suggest taking a look at ichabods thread (vertical scrog, in vert section) and maybe using screens like he does. they are quite easy and convenient. Id think u could just pull the front one out from the tent and easily access the rest of them to train branches.

Highly efficient and very easy to setup. and best of all very easy to work with and train and maintain the perfect canopy.

Id say plug in ur lights and fans and put a min max thermometer in there and see how hot and cold it gets with everything running before u put plants in there. that will tell u if passive intake will be enough or not.

Alright there is some info to ponder, thread to research, and test run to check equipment and environment. That should keep u busy for a mintute. Tackle those things and let me know if u got any more questions. Id still start this over in vert though, guaranteed u will get lots of help.

Right, you'r totally right. I'm a bit dumb to ask this thing as you guys can't really answer anything...
Just needed some 'motivation' because i don't wanna screw things. It is a real investment, would be a shame to fail.

Thanks a lot Miraculous Meds, i really appreciate :) I'll come back with more to let you know how this thing works !
