Lil' bit a help here..

Hi everyone. I am thinking how to best use my closet and I was originally going to do a dwc with scrog but now I'm not so sure..

My grow space is a closet.. 2.5 x 3.25 x 9 feet

It would seem a vertical setup would be better for my space, correct?

Also, can anyone throw in their two cents on a wet/dry cycle like ebb&flow or drip versus DWC? Read of some people having root problems with dwc..

So now I am thinking of going vertical with either ebb&flow or drip.

Any suggestions?

400W CMH
Can grow up to 6.

Yes, with vertical setup you will get better use of your box, because you have very high box. I recomend vertical too :D Also get some powerful fan, because a cooling down 6 CMH in cool tube isnt a joke. And do a good ventilation airflow in the box, because temps can vary for a few degresses in the bottom and at the top. I am for wet dry method. It is enough, DWC is just too many complication with just a simple technique as it is. Si would go with ebb&flow.

my 2 cents:D

I was planning on a S&P TD-150 6" inline suckin' troo da filta, kno?

Oh lol...In that case i think you will do more good to grow in ordinary position and buy some very big pots and let roots to grow :D I suggest you tu leave them in veg as much time as posibble before go to flowering. With just one cmh you will not gain anything in vertical.

yea i second the idea of using a 6" cool tube vertically with a 4" vortex or the fan you mentioned. You get more surface area when goin vert.

Wsup Dasmo,

Its not a closet but.....

This is what i did in a DR80 2'8"x2'8"x 5
400w HPS
4" Vortex
8 - 3gallon pots...10"fan in the middle
50/50 FFOF/COCO

I vegged for abt 40 days.. then switched to 12/12

This method yielded me just over 10 1/2 oz. I'm sure i could have done much more if I had only 1 strain and did more veg + training.

The whole story is in the link in my signature.

Sweet. Thanks Marlo.. Would you recommend having a wire fence for the plants to climb on or did the stakes do just fine?

The stakes were pretty good. I used twist ties to hold the branches back from the light. Depending on how long u plan to veg, you might want to use more than just the stakes so u can train the plants more

he,he...looks like we got another vertical grower. You made a smart decision my friend. This way you'll put your box in best use for sure. I would suggest you, to use 2 bulbs if possible, for better covering all the grow area. In my opinion 2x250w would be better, couse in vertical you don't need so much penetration, if your girls are trained a bit. I found it difficult to define the best height for bulb...if it was at the tops, then the lover parts didn't get any useful light, if too low, then were the tops in lack of light. And my plants were only 2tf tall. But its true I only used 150hps in cool tube. I only have 1 grow under my belt for now, and I pulled 4.3oz from that 150.

If I may weigh in on the E&F or drippers vs. DWC debate:

As long as you keep your nutrient sol'n cool and well-oxygenated, you will not have root-rot. If you are worried about high temps, skip DWC. Otherwise, DWC is a great method, and I think you'll get good results from either.

I recently set up a new drain-to-waste coco dripper system because I wanted to minimize setup and maintenance hassles, and I am SUPER impressed with the root development and rate of growth. I won't run a drip system with any other medium again, and I honestly don't think that my DWC worked any better.

So if you want a recirculating hydro setup (and you can keep the res cool) go with DWC.
If you want a drain-to-waste, or a low-maintenance setup, go with a coco drip system.

Thanx propo and philo.. yeah, i don't have height limitations so the added efficiency drew me in to the vert grow :)

It's coming up on summer on the southwest coast of the United states so although things are temperate, it does get hot and a heat wave would be bad.. i'm thinkin i'll go with the drip. ;)
