Does anyone have any experience with MH/HPS bulbs that goes beyond the hype? Or is a bulb just a bulb just a bulb? Is there a difference, in your experience and knowledge? Is the talk of increased blue spectrum matter? Or does a Horrtilux= iPower=Plantmax=?
Ive done some lighting research and found out that u only need the full spectrum light if u are using a hps for the whole cycle, i use a standard low cost mh lamp for veg and i use the cheapest, brightest, redest lamp i can find for flower, my hps lamps are 2000k, but on the other hand a mh lamp will add frost to ur nugs n hps will add weight. Imo, the 130 dollar lamps are a fancy box and great advertising, but not needed.
Lumens!!! We want a hi kelvin # to veg and a low kelvin # to flower, im after weight and frost so for the record i use 3600w of hps and 800w of mh on light rails for flower. And veg i try to use as much mh as possible rather than t5 cause its my experiance that mh lamps makes thicker stocks and branches and t5 makes em lengthy and wispy.
I will also add that i do lighting at work and also have been to advanced ballast and light school through work as well. Ive also done hundreds of hours of research on leds and lets just say HID is the way to go still. (For now) but led can throw some nice nugs but HID is the answer for me and my garden.
U can go so deep in to this its not even funny. Bottom line for me , my garden, my budget, and my experience. Im HID all the way. B. b. b. 2/3hps 1/3 mh during flower and mh and t5 with 6500k lamps for veg.
And i do ok....
