Hey all,

Purchasing some lights that pump out 8400 lumens..to go in a closet which is 4'x3'x5'...I will be vegging seedlings until they are ready and might even keep some in the closet for flowering..is this ample light?

Ignore what the lumens are. What is the wattage of the lights and what kind are they?

You can buy the reflector and outlet at Ace Hardware for 7 dollars a piece, and the bulbs are 8 dollars.

If you want floro lighting, go to Lowes and buy a couple four bulb track lights for 15 each and put 24 watt bulbs in them. Personally, if I were you I would get a 400 watt HPS and get a good light.

I was just trying to avoid wiring an shit..Do they sell ballasts that just plug in?

Yes they do. Be sure to specify 110 or 240 though.

Do you have any hydro shops nearby? They sell lights all ready to plug in. You will pay a little more, but if they go up, they are warrantied.

those lights are way too weak for your grow area. u need an HID light in there, or a smaller grow space.

only thing I have ever had to wire is my cooltube... if you want one of those you'll wire it together, and depending on what you have could be easy or kind of confusing... but well worth it, helps me control where the main source of heat is going.

my advice is to buy a 250/400 watt lumatek at mdhydro.com. Hell, even a 150 hps will get you more solid nugs than thosw flos... but I have seen AMAZING nugs come from flos...

with that sapce i reccomend a 400 watt. you can get good bud from flouros no doubt but not in a anrea like that. unless u wasted a buch of the space.

ok I think I'll settle on the 400w HPS..Im not familiar if there are any hydro shops around here..might be hittin up ebay..so one 400watter should be good?

go to google search businesses. type in your zip code under the zip code space and where it says business name type either hydro, hydroponics and it will tell you all of them in your areae.

Those flourescent lights are ample as additional lighting at most. I have read that marijuana needs over 7000 lumens per square foot, just to approach its genetic potential. Another reason why you should go with an high-pressure sodium is because it has much stronger intensity in the red spectrum of light, which is much more effective for flowering. I would recommend a 150W hps...you can get them on ebay for 60 bucks.
