This is the money you could be saving if you grow

There was a fire in Chicago yesterday where a marijuana growing operation was being run. I have not seen the story online, but did see it on the news. The story was only about 30 seconds, but I got a good look at the lights as the firemen and police carried them out of the building. It looked like the grow op was using 2 1000 watt hps in an apartment. The 1st floor had sophisticated venting, air flow and ducting.

I am not sure if the lights caused the fire or if there was a secondary cause.

It's a good time to check your wiring and clear out any flammables.

Be safe!

The biggest mistake people make is overloading the circuits. 1 1000 watt 120 volt ballast draws over 9 amps. Plugging 2 into a 20 amp circuit, though isn't technically an overload, leaves no room for error. Not safe. Too close to max draw. For those wiring there own rooms, use 220. A 220 volt digital draws on average 4.5 amps , so if you run 12 gage wire, you can use 3 ballasts on one 20 amp circuit and be very much in the safe zone.

Yeah I saw that story this morning too. I think they said they pulled something like 10 pounds out of the house. I didn't see much else come out though. Paying too much attention to getting my lazy ass to work to look up and see the video of the story.

BUT they said 10 pounds and 130 plants. Now taking police math out of the equation, I'd say they had about a quarter pound, 3 roaches, an empty bowl, 3 grams of ash, 2 dead lighters, 50 seeds, and 20 seedlings.

That's why I like fishing with chicago police. Pull up a minnow, and they call it a 10 pounder.

lol, exactly. And you know the plants were re soaked in water before the weigh as well.

It's hilarious how cops pulling this shit and straight up lying is common knowledge not just in our little community but really across the nation, yet no one seems care?

HAHA this is so true i always see these headlines that say 'multi million dollar growroom". You know how hard it is grow that much? You figure $2500 a pound for heady... Thats like 400 pounds.. And i never heard of anything like that indoors. Really what the police nab is some asshole stealing power or some stupid uneducated street corner hood growing "Big Bud" and thinking hes going to yeild 50 pounds a month. I see people like that on here every once in awile. They usually make threads like "5,000 plant indoor grow" or "trying to grow 50 pounds, how do i do it". Ha, when you stop and think about it indoor growing is not worth the money.. It takes so much time and investment and theres really a limit on how much you can grow per year. Theres really no money in it. It's better to smuggle..

Rather than get caught up with police shenanigans, let's concentrate on Facelifts point. Don't grow stupid!

Kinderfeld I agree with you, I don't live in an apartment but if I did I would NEVER grower anything over 5 plants. And yeah the sun is free but not everyone is as lucky as you to get good summers :(:( I need to go way south, spain anyone? :D:D heehee

wonder how the fire started.. if the circuits or w/e were overloading wouldn't they just shut the lights off..

the HPS could have fallen off the ledge or hooks he was using into the hydro tank, and that would start a serious fire.

This type of shit is usually the calling card of a retard, but not always. Accidents happen to the best of us.

Be safe.
