so what i have is a 8x17 i have had 4 1000w stretched across this 4.5x17 foot span... i have wasted room but i know that i like to be able to move around in the grow.. but my question is i just changed over some stuff and i added 2 more lights.. the picture below should show somewhat what i got going on.. there are 2 more lights on the end that you cant see.. but my question is people and reading always says 50 watts per square foot... i have 78 almost 79 watts per square foot in the stretch watts aside i have 12000 lumens per square foot.. would you think that is too much or just right? im no dummy by any means been doing this a while and have a full understanding of plants and health.. i just did this change over in the room.. there will be a drain table built next week.. it will be 4.5x16.. i have 2 8x16x16 trunk lines where all 6 hoods bleed into one for intake one for outtake i have 2 6 inch hurricane pushing air into the trunks and same pulling out.. my temps with out co2 run 76 with lights on 68 with lights off my humidity in the flower stays right at 35-45% depends on how much water i use that day..
little more about my grow style i use 3 gallon plastic pots filled with 1 inch of clay pebbles on bottom and the rest canna coco... i use canna coco a and b, canna boost, canna rhizo, cannazym, and pk 13/14 been using this stuff about 5 years..

Mostly, over wattage just means wasted electricity. I can't imagine seeing increased yields, have you been keeping track?

Also, some strains can get light bleached from too much light. You'll see the green on leaves vanish to yellowish spots and blotches like parchment.

Dude you will be fine just roll with it. Just stack it all under your foot print they will love it. As long as you can control temps you are good.

Hard to have to much light as long as you can control the heat that comes with it. I run 2 KW in a 4x8. Light bleach will usually only happen if they grow to close to the light. Maintain a proper distance from hood to canopy and you should be good. You should get good light penetration so limited defoliation will allow lower bud to fill out. You can calculate watt to yield after your first harvest.

Peace

thanks.. heat is not an issue i have plenty of ac and fans if i need it... i put alot more focus in my environment then most.. im always very consistent about weight and checking see what changed when i changed things from past grows.... been keeping an eye out for bleaching none as of yet on the big gals and the closest point of plant to bulb is about 18 inches or so... been keeping my eye out though.. i should post a journal on here for the new setup show how or what 12k lumens per square foot does....
thanks for the replys i was gonna run it and find out myself either way but M.R.GT i have always ran about what you have 2k in a 4x8 pretty much 1k per 4x4... now i have 1k per 3x3 so let the games begin lol

1k per 3x3 is 111 watts/sq ft. If ballasts are adjustable, dropping it to 600w would give you an ideal 67w/sq ft in a 3x3. Good luck. -granger

its little more than 3x3 i have the tray is 4.5x17 so 76.5 square feet... means 76.5/6000 is about 78.5 watts per square foot... so 1000w every 3x4.5 square
