lighting positioning on sick girl

hey everyone.. im new to this site and fairly new to indoor. my problem is i have this female that is about 2 weeks into flower and most of the leaves are all dried out and shit... they weaken and then fold over themselves and just sit there looking nasty. ive been giving her 6.8 ph water, although before it was low and that was a problem. do you think this might be because the lights are surrounding her, and not on top? the lights are 6 42w cfl's placed about 4" away from plant. any suggestions on leaves drying out?

Its hard to say, without soil and feeding specs. I almost lost my whole current grow to what I thought was heat, then mold, but was just ph lockout.

My leaves dried up and turned yellow with brown looking spots at leaf tip. I waited too long to fix the problem, cause I didnt id the problem correctly. I was using neem oil and spacing out plants, thinking it was somehting else.

But, after 2 weeks or so of ph water being dumped into the roots, they are starting to not die as fast, and if I wasnt running perp I would not finish them.

Yeild is greatly affected, but if it was my first grow, Id keep them, I might get about an 0z from 4 small plants, 150 hps, with other 100hps wich I dont use cuase they are not in a place to really use 250 watts, but my sensi start that are popped and planted will be a different story.

Id the problem thru the sick plants guide here, It took me few hours to nail it down. Keep at it, youll suprise yourself with some good smoke.

4 inches is far for cfl, I used them only them for first grows, I used one 12v pc fan, and put it right on coils.

I kept them half inch from canopy. They work, you just got to work them. :joint:

no, no spidermites. and my soil was miracle gro with blood meal and perlite and my ferts are off the shelf 30-10-10 for first two weeks, 10-10-10 for 4 weeks, and 10-52-10 for flower..

ive been using 5.3 ph water since sprout, and i just corrected it to 6.8 when i put it into flower, cause i didnt know my tap water was bad enough to have to be balanced, but so many problems arose once i put her into flower that i turned it back to veg, corrected the ph and put it back into flower a week 1/2 later. im sure its ph problems but i was hoping there was a way i could save these dying, drying leaves. also, theres so many bud sites for these few leaves to support... i have atleast 12 side buds with a 1ft cola starting to fill out and it doesent seem like i have enough healthy leaves to support that...

try 2 tsp dolimite lime per gal soil as top dressing, gently water it into the soil after a few waterings ya should notice the plant recover. unless alot of time has passed and the damage is critical whats the temps is there a small fan blown across the cfls bulbs. this blows away the ambient heat thats built up 4 inch away is perfect for cfl's i used to keep mine messured 4inch. mine go from this with 5 light fixtures and 340w total mixed color spectrum

to this 400w hps 400w mh

the above pics taken today flowern is day 20 12/12
my plants get watered with tap water i allow this to sit in clean 1 gal jugs over night at least before use. most us citys use cloriene to sanitize the drinking water this kills the bactriea in the root zone and fast. i adjust my water PH to 6.5 for all soil during all of veg and untill last 3 wks of flower. then i drop it to 6.3 i alternate fert feedings. 1 water is plain water PH adjusted 6.5 the next watering i add any ferts to be used then adjust the waters PH 6.5. when i water i water untill they just start to drain then move to next plant i dont flood them pour gently. with out pics of what your dealing with hard to help out other then suggest, mynamestitch sick plant guide link in my sig should help ya also. g/l

Ill tell you one thing, dont feed your plants till you identify and correct the ph problem.

If a vital nute is locked out due to ph, but more nutes are fed and not used, it just builds up and concentrates around the roots, effecting ph, and maybe burning roots when you do finally get the ph correct and the plant starts to take up those nutes.

Use a small fan right on your cfl, then use the back of your hand to check how close your canopy can get.

I did this and it told me half inch, wich I used threw out veg and flower, and flowering with normal ge cfl requires them to be closer than 4 inches, for good penetration.

I could touch my big ge spiral when the fan was on it middle of day cycle, hold on to it with my fingers, so half inch away is just fine.

As good as it can get, wich is all you can do with cfl. I lst my plants to work with the cfl, opening up the middle can allow the not so far pushing light to reach a little more.

I like cfl, still have waaay more than I need just sitting around in packages. I dont know the cut off point for ph and flowering plants is.

I threw mine into flower in the middle of correcting the ph, cuase I was sure they were gonna die, and I wanted to see what would happen, plus see the sex,all from seed.

Mine arent dieing as fast, but Im still loosing fans, and its starting to creep into all new flower growth, but not really bad.

Im sure it will get there, and I think I know what screwed it up. I used alaska fish emulsion, early in veg.

Never used it before, I think I didnt mix correctly, and I threw my ph off from that point on. Ill be more carefull. Good luck. :lurk:

the room temps are 74-78 with 40-45% humidity, and theres an oscilating fan going over the plant and all bulbs with a decent intake/exhaust system going. ill try some of the lime, i was going to mix some with the soil but i couldnt find any at the stores around here. good news is i have 3 females ready to go into flower now that have been healthy their whole lives, hopefully they turn out better since the ph is now adjusted.

How much bone and blood meal did you add, and how often are you using the other ferts and at what strength? I really don't think the problem is PH related. Don't fert them for a while and see how it goes.......

ive been giving her 1/2 tsp per gallon of 10-52-10 since she was flowered. shes definately starting to perk up today and looks alot healthier green. the PH was 5 through the whole grow up until now, so that locked out alot of nutrients on her. since ive been giving her ph corrected water, shes really been thanking me.
