Lighting for outdoor plants?

lol, Sound crazy? Well, let me explain. We (a few close friends) have grown for many years and it has always been outdoors. We have experimented with many options and have had very good success.

I am in CO, and the grow season where I am is JUUUUST a bit short. We get a few strains that finish, but many don't and for those, we bring the plants indoors and put them under lights for the last 2-5 weeks. This process has worked great and this year, I have found a place to "finish" my plants.

With that, I would like to know how much light is necessary to properly flower 3-4 plants that are 3' wide and about 4' tall. I have as much room as necessary but don't want to spend an outrageous amount. Since I only use the light(s) for a month or so, the cost to run them is not really a concern.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

I should add that one of my friends uses a single 1000w HPS light with two flourescents on the side..He has had great results.

I am in southern Co and I live at about 7800 feet. I might suggest some small hoop houses to extend you season in both directions. Go to lostcreek.net and check out their 6 foot hoop benders . I run these 50 foot long . Makes a cheap "bomber" covered grow environment. Peace , Oldschoolgrower
