i have aircooled 600w hps light my problem is that even with high stress training my plants keep growin up and are runnin out of room im bending them, tieing them, and snapped 2 of them, even tied weights to them to try to controle this but it does not seem to do anything a few hours go by and i got to do it again. 2 of them were touching the glass on the light for a few hours any got some signs of lightburn right now i got them about 3in from the light theyre on theyre 24 day of flower of a 12-13 wk flower is theyre anything else i can do as i am quickly runnin out of room? what would be the ideal distance for the light to be from them? i put another 400w hps and it got a few of them growing towards that which i like heres a pic of my grow any advice would be appreciated experianced advice on snappin and high strees training and how much a plant can take is what im really lookin for but any suggestions are going to be considerd as its almost an emergency plants are much taller then in the pic now atleawst 5ft tall prob closer to 6ft my light can not go up any more and i think i can only steal 2in at the most for the rest of the grow at the moment my plants look really good but i am trying to prevent future light burn i was thinkn if i snapp the main stem about 8indown from the top and tie it sideways like an upside down L or a 90degree angle it would be ok also what will happen if i snapp them and leave them hangin down but i never tried this and dont want to ruin my plants by snappin them and not tying them back together and i dont want to loose out alot on my total yield thanks everybodys help in advance

i just tied the tops to the lower part of the stems and got 3in and i pulled some more of the high shit down under whats already been tied so that they hold it down for awhile im thinkin about gettin something like chicken wire and putting it around the light with a 3in gap between the glass and the wire so that the plants cant touch the glass even if they stand back up the screen will push the tops down

hi Jersey she looks great to bad you dont have enough room. you can train the hell out of her but with 10 weeks left you will be overgrown. I would cut 10 or 15 clones off her and put them in square pots so they stay close. then if you still have no room cut 10 or 15 more and give them to friends or save them to go outside . the more I look at her the more I like her what kind is she

I just saw your chicken wire idea get a bigger piece and put it over the plant the tops will grow through and hold the rest of the bush back you might have to help some tops find there way. its a nice problem you have enjoy

jersey - Let me tell you that I had the exact same thing happen to me. I used a piece of that thin plastic fencing you see near construction sites and covered three plants with it. Each day for the next week, I just pulled it a bit tighter to make it lower. I had to help the bud sites thru in spots, but it worked like a charm. Now I'm growing in even less space so I'm constantly pruning throughout the veg period. You should be able to do the same thing with the chicken wire, just do it slowly.

capt thanks for the compliments the strain is greenhouse hawaiian snow if i got to im gonna get a bigger piece and put it over the tops i took so many cuttings already all i got left are good budsites that are gonna start nuggin up any day and produce huge nugs at finish

pipedreams thanks i like your idea better the plastic will be alot more gentle then chicken wire so i wont have to worry bout the chicken wire slicing anything when i tighten it snapping stems is gonna be my last resort i did so much previously in veg nd flower i dont want to cut anything maybe some of the crazy leaves but the budsites i left are all gonna produce giant buds i hope i dont have to cut ne more that hash press is awesome im getting one

If it were me I would be getting some Phosphoload or Bushmaster.
They will keep stretching for awhile and those products halt vertical growth.

If you massage the stems, knead them for a while and feed plain water for a couple days to get the nitrogen down, you can break the stems over.

Also, Sunlight Supply had light diffusers that slip over the socket (if your socket is exposed in the reflector) called the Equalizer. They are fairly inexpensive.

Sunlight tells me that in cuts down on light from 8 to 13%.

Am testing them right now with P.L Deep reflectors, and 600W lamps, and they appear to be working.

Where we had burning on the canopy the last round at the Skunkworks, there is no buring this time around. Will snap some pics in a month or so.

i would use a net first and then start "knacking" them over when they shoot up again.

To "knack" simply place your finger and thumb on the desired height and gently squeeze until you hear a crunch not a snap. then move your fingers apart about 1inch or 2.5cm and push the plant over. go for a 90 degree angle at finish. this can be done until 3 weeks from flower.

sorry i am so short, i hope this helps!!!

GrowDoc so ur saying squeeze the stem lightly then bend it to the side? I'm having the same problem...what will this technique do for the plant?

ommi by doing this you can bend the branch without fear of it snapping and it heals stronger than new with a 90deg bend. again massage the areas till crunched and soft then bend , no snap no tears.

good stuff bro.....does the main cola still get just as big? does bending it allow for the plant to still yield the same?
