Light stressed buds and a beginners despair

I rewrite my hasty beginners quest from yesterday. Probably to messy to answer (as no one did) and since then I found out that most of my tops (buds even if veg phase?) has been light stressed in my small tent. As this is the first try with Indoor growing (very small tent 40x40 cm and 140cm high) I wasn't ready for this kind of problem.

I had a veg phase of Three plants (random unidentified seeds) 24 hrs light and was planning to sort out male plants as soon as I could detect them. But their height (they did very well) did get quite Close to the light <https://www.todogrowled.com/gb/tgl-led-grow-lights/1-led-grow-light-tgl-star-60.html> and I used LST to lower them).

Now I'm troubled. In worst case those 6 weeks of patience and seemingly good result might be in vain. Many of the tops (don't know if you call them 'buds' in their veg phase?) are probably light stressed. Just as I had to switch to 12/12 light to start bloom. I guess those stressed tops (so dry that they fell off) can't produce any real buds in blooming?

Two Days with 12/12 and now I at least can detect one of the plants as a female. Perhaps the best way to save as much as possible is to let the other two plats go and use all of the space to use LST to lower the female I got as much as possible? Probably so?

And in consequence: Can fresh buds develop from the light stressed tops even if the plant is in the beginning of blooming? And at last, is it advisable to re-plant such a big plant (stems like a pencil) in a bigger pot (as I didn't have space for more than 3.6 litre pots before but have a 11 litre one at hand).

Any tips to get the most out of this in this situation would be great. This is the first time and it looked very promising but I might have done it wrong. Felt I just had to go with Three plats as the seeds was random and I just had to have at least one female. But they grew out of my hands so to speak. I guess it's more optimal to grow just one plant in such a small tent. I might have learned something but would like to optimize what I got at the moment to go through the blooming and get some good quality buds out of it.

Most thankful for your expert tips. Thank you!

You’re too late to transplant to achieve much

Post up photos here

Use less words and give more information .... like variety, soil or hydro, light type, etc

Well, you DID get the kind of light from the link. Thought that this was the crucial element in this case as alla other parameters seems to have been just fine so far. But if something else is relevant to my specific questions I answer them.

Your response is that I don't achieve 'much' with a transplant now. Is that equal to 'totally useless' or 'might achive some'? I was more concerned if it would be a rconsicerable risk to do so at this stage?

I might post some photos later today.

I use Words to be specific of a situation. And I'm a beginner at this trying to explain exactly what the situation is so I quickly can adpat to any advise. I like Words and they're a good way to commincate with ;) (no offense). Often in forums , when the opening isn't celar enough, it starts a thread of califications instead. Hope you don't mind me using a bit space to better learn in answers.:D

clear pictures always tell an experienced grower lots of information if its possible, Iv had plenty of problems with light stress and a l.e.d.

I will get some pics later. The fact is though that several 'tops' on the plant was totally wasted and I guess it's the light as it concerned the tops closest to the lamp. They reached almost to the lamp.

I show some pics later and try to force the plants down as much as possible. As it's the first time I don't know what to do to be able to develop buds in this situation. But I guess skipping one hopefully male make it easier to bind the other two down more.

But I get some pics as soon as possible.

Guess so :D Thank's. But perhaps something can be saved as it was so promising to begin with. Have cared them 6 weeks. Let's say if anyone have some good advise after some pics.

The only time I bleached out the green color on the leaf, was when I was running naked vertical 1K hps bulbs, that was when the bulb was less than 9.75 inches from the leaf.
When I went to LED's 7-8 years ago, I found that I got way better plants when from LED when I pushed the LED up as high as I could, in my tents. That first bastard is almost 50 LB's. I'm replacing all my HPS with HGL leds myself, small lights with a big roar.
How far is your LED to the tops of the plants?
What temps are in you tent with lights on?
When my plants are in veg, hell I (may) chop them if half if I need to. I run a perpetual, with many different strains, with different flower times, food needs, length of stay in the flower tent. So many ways to grow our fav's.
I wish you well man.

Some pics below (the size limit was really low I have to say).

Anyhow. Here I am and this is what it looks like. Next time I do it better but the only thing I would like reflections on now is how I from this can get the best out of it as possible? I've now identified two of them as females, the third is possible a male and if so it has to go anyway.

To transplant the big one to a 11 litre pot is of no use as I understand it?

If not I can keep the two females, bind the down so the tops are at the at distance from the lamp. 15-30 cm at bloom is the recommendation from the manufacturer.

What I don't have experinced Before is if the plant will continue to grow in height even in bloom phase?

Anyhow. Any suggestions to this rather than telling me what an idiot I am ;). How can I get the most out of it as it is and take it trough the bloom phase just started? Or should I give up and start all over again? If so 7 weeks of extra ordinary care was useless :(.

In addition I learn every day as Sunshineinabag pointed out. Today I checked out some fact around the 12/12 from Seed method. Perhaps that would be more optimal to me with this small 40x40x140 cm tent?

Most thankful for any help to a beginner on this that hopefully get better. It was really a nice sight Before this dry top turned up.

Thank's guys if you're kind to me :D.

01 Overview - The mess I look down to and have to deal with some how. 3 plants in 3,6 litres pots

02 Detail - Wasn't able to focus exactly but I guess you see what kind of damage some of the tops has. From this I've already removed the dry out leaves.

03 Distance - Some distans right in the mess. You can see that new plant material (small leaves) is coming out from the damaged tops. But can they really create enought to a bud?

04 Groundview - Just to show how narrow it is and how I've tied down the stems to get away from the light a bit.

Its a harsh way of topping a plant friend but its normally the outcome from that sort of damage that early in bloom.

Leaf colour looks great and its a shame it all got a bit tight on the light, id mist lightly with a b1 (superthrive) and bloom on, dont be to quick to remove the damage as it will only make the plant look better but adding unwanted stress, let them recover first and use some gentle training to expose any bud sites.

Do a quick search on super cropping and do that. Basically, use your finger to crush a section of stem, then bend it horizontal (go for a curve, not sharp bend). This will get the tops away from light and give you some breathing room. Repeat as necessary. I had to do this with a panama that was gonna hit my light. Supercropped it half way up during stretch and had to do that again. Its definitely a good tool to have for them stretchy gals.

Thank's a lot both Cmoon and brickweeder (and former posters). Even if I'm a beginner (at growing t.i ;) ) I spent a lot of time the last couple of weeks to study and check out useful info from the web. So I can follow your tips and honestly I had something in that direction in mind. So it seems like my thinking is somewhat in the right direction ;).

Some comfort in your general opinion it looks alright, apart from the damaged parts, and that I can proceed. My biggest concern was that I just started the blooming phase and was afraid that prohibited more 'manipulation'. But now I see it's would be fine as it's just day four today. I'm eager to start.

I will do it like this and hopefully you approve:

Let the one that I think is a male go to open up space. I believe 'he' can be useful somehow ;).
Skip any plan of bigger pot and keep the two females in their pots to avoid any more stress.
Create a kind of canopy by the super cropping method. Aim for light to as much buds as possible.

In fact I've praticed a bit in how to get stems fleixble as the stems was relative thick last time i bended them down a bit.
Think I've found some useful detailed instructions from here <https://www.growweedeasy.com/how-to-super-crop-marijuana>.

It's 'watering day' this evening and as I understand it the best time to bend is when the plant soften up, waiting for water.
I will later add some pics of how things going.

A couple of questions:

1. Never seen the blooming phase so I don't know if the plants still grow considerable in height?
If so I have to adapt the distance from canopy to lamp according to that. Manufactor of lamp recommends 15-30 cm in blooming.

2. Is it good or bad to remove some of the big leaves to open up for light to bransches with buds?

3. Perhaps language/expert term problem but I couldn't really understand Cmoons 'mist lightly with a b1 (superthrive)'.
Haven't the slightest idea what to do? Perhaps it doesn't matter if I follow my plan above?

Thank's again all. I was a bit lost and worried but now I'm fine. Get back when I can report a result.

In addition I've now experinced the case of a very small tent. 40x40x140 cm and I'm stucked with that. I arranged all this in the cellar and it's 150 cm to the roof. Next time I might test the 12/12 from seed method. Seems like you have more chance to control and can go for a coule of plants. But that's another task when this first crop hopefully lands in it's glory some weeks ahead (7-10 says the info I have but I also know what to look for).

I now have the impression that it istn't the light at all drying out the tops. I have a heat fan (visible in the upper right corner) that has kept the temp quite steady during the process but as the plats grew higher I als moved it up as the space is so narrow.

Noted temp fall (temp is at bottom) as should have thought of the heat rises. I've now placed the heat fan at the bottom, as well as quite brutal supercropping. I have a quite even canopy and as I see it a lot of small new material that hopefully develop to tops.

Five Days in the blooming and my guess is that the signs of sex dropped off a bit as the temp Went down and at the same time tops was dryied out by the fan.

Well, I realize some mistakes here, but at the same time the plants are quite robust so if the Environment now is better (higher temp and no 'top heat' blowing) I really hope it develops well.

As soon as I really can detect sexes I make the next move. But generally I see quite a lot of promising material and light over most of them.

id give them 10 more days then clean out the dead wood top, bottom and be prepared to tweak that canopy with coaxing good budsites into favourable positions.

Good to hear you sounding confident, plants feel these good vibes

Thank's Cmoon. I was encouraged that quite a lot small new material has been generated a bit below the burned tops. Seems like they didn't give up either ;). And I Think the Discovery of the temp and mis-directed fan can be crusial. The temp att bottom was 18 C and unbalanced with considerable hotter at the top of the tent. Hopefullt this will get a push in blooming so I soon can discover sexes and perhaps sort a male out.

It is a really mess with stems twister (my old down bendings) and branches in all directions. Three plants sending out branches. But somehow many of them goes upwards and with a Little help I can get most of the small space covered.

Well, let's see what happens but as it looks it might work. Next time I will try to Control it more for sure. Perhaps I try that from seed to 12/12 and grow a couple of smaller plants instead. The max height at 140 cm seems a bit low to manage big 'trees'.

Thank's for your convern and yes, they soulj feel all love and care I put in there so far. But as said, you learn by doing. Will try to get this to the end as long as there's hope :D.

This how it landed

This how it landed

It took almost 2 week into blooming, trying to get the space needed in the mess of Three palnts, only to find out that just one of them was a female. Typically the one that was a bit aside and a bit unsignificant compared to the two males. Now those are cut down and the female will have all the space alone. I guess I can't expect a big crop but I really worked with all branches to even a caonpy out and see to that as many part get light. This is what it looks like now and going in to the 9 th week.

Sp is it ok with all obsticals I had? Do it look nice enough. Could this be nice buds?

watch the feed strength m8, youve got a small nute burn at the tips so just water a few times.

Thats a really big sativa finger leaf and the buds look to be developing well with nice leaf colour.

keep it coming buddy

Thank't for your positive comment.

I feed as recommended by this adatped nutriants

accrdong to their recommended scheme:

You recommend some watering without any nutriants? Called 'flushing' as I understand the vocabulary? :)
