light schedule question

If a plant is vegging indoors under a 20/4 light schedule, what will happen if the plant is transplanted outside? Will the drastic change in lighting throw the plant into budding early?

at this time in year i wouldnt think your plant would start budding but might i suggest turn the plants to a 16/8 cycle if you are worried about the stress. what kind of light are your plants under now? welcome to the mag head rush!

Thanks. The question was just hypothetical atm. I was just considering different lighting schedules for some diesel bagseed

Welcome Headrush,

A tad off topic here mate,If your new to growing Id personally forget about a seed from a bag of weed you have purchased to be honest.

Chances are its come from a plant thats hermied during its life and the trait will carry on to your seed/s.

Get yourself some cheap regular seeds and sex them yourself,better than the disapointment of harvesting your crop and its full of seeds.

Just a thought fella.

That is your opinion Scotsman..why would a bag seed be so easily discounted? You do know the Great Chem Dog himself got his seed from a bag on Dead tour, right?

OP, last year I transplanted several plants outside that had been under 24 hour light. I gave them a bit more than a week in shade then partial shade to acclimate and then just dropped the rockwool rootballs into Foxfarm Ocean Forest at the end of May. Gentle gentle gentle. But here in San Diego we had a weird June last year -- cold as fuck and rainy and then i had an irrigation system malfunction and soak them with 8+ pH water. Twice.

Bottom line is that they flowered early and it was ok. Beautiful bud and a reduced yield, but I did a LOT better than some growers. So put those girls outside and let them reach for the sun, is my opinion. But this year i'm trying to reduce light hours more gradually, not more than 2 hours per week, just to be sure.

Chemboi is right:

@font-face { font-family: "Arial"; }@font-face { font-family: "Verdana"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; }a:link, span.MsoHyperlink { color: blue; text-decoration: underline; }a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed { color: purple; text-decoration: underline; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }I think you just need to make sure that you're not doing something too drastic because that's going to impact yoru plants, even if you don't think that it will.

Plants are sensitive creatures like that. Gotta treat em well and not just think they can take anything.

Also, make sure that you are patient during a transition. THings are going to go wrong, but once you allow the plant to figure things out, they'll rebound.
