Light Proofing..... and ducts?

whats the best way to light proof small spaces like cabs and such....... panda plastic? mylar? refletivex?

how much do you need for a cab like a c22..... 10 ft? 20 ft? 30ft?


also how do you attach ducting to the duct holes in the hood for air cooling? is it just duct tape? is there special fittings?..... didnt see any at HD....

duct clamps.

duct tape will get too hot and lose it's grip. duct clamps come with most duct you'll buy but you can also buy them at HD or Lowes

pick up a roll of panda film and coat the insides of the cab. For areas that might get light leaks, leave a bit extra film so it overlaps.

For ducting light traps get some PVC or insulated ducting and make a little maze out of some elbows. Some general ducting will glow like you might use for your fan

talking about the hole in the hood..... do you just stick the ducting in the hole..... there is nothing to clamp it on it...... not sure what the part is called..... but it goes where the removable vents were....... and has a male piece you can slide the ducting over and then put the clamp on...... didnt see it at HD..... guy there said they didnt carry it.....

on my hood there's an inch or so on both sides that a duct can be clamped to. Seems silly to design a hood that can be air cooled and not make it easy to clamp the duct on it.

No need for plastic, or mylar in a C22. It's already white, and it reflects really well!! I was a c13 grower for many years... Just make sure its light proof.. and good ventilation and you're set!

Duct tape, reflective duct tape + HVAC ducting and the clamps are awesome! You'll find em a few shelves up, and they usually have all the round clamps together.. not to much $$ buck or so each one. They are called "Ducting hose clamp" Get em in various sizes.. 4" 6" 8" etc

Tarbosh, I believe you're looking for a flange aka collar.

Some lamp mfgs/dist sell duct flanges as an accessory to the stock lamp (HydroFarm). HVAC supply stores sell them for venting. DIY collars and flanges can be made from flashing.

If you don't plan on taking your cab apart in the future, white caulk works good for corners and crevices. Weather stripping works good for doors.
