Light Movers?

I currently flower under 1 600hps with an adjustawing reflector. I flower 4 plants vegged for 4 weeks and average 3oz per.

I'd like to expand my space to at least accomodate 2 more plants and I was thinking about getting a small light mover. My question is how much more space can I expand to without it becoming detrimental to the overall quality and yield?

I'd try to add another 600 watts if I could before looking at a light mover. A mover would give more coverage but decrease the light watts or PAR/sqft, unless you have a lot of light already for that space.

light movers are great especially in veg. for flower, moving 6-8 inches off center, shouldnt decrease bud quality that much.. especially for two plants. its doable.

I figure a mover as adding 30% to the light per square foot equation. they serve a purpose like any tool. heat, space, all go into choosing the right tool for your job
2-600w lights equal 1200w
1 1000w roughly equals 1300w on a mover.

Musicianized You will gain about 1ft space on a light mover !

I used one for years and it worked well but not as well as the 2nd light !

as stated above light movers are great in veg.. for flower i wouldnt go to far maybe 8-12 inches i like it more to move side to side to just light the sides but thats only for strait line lights not square design.

Thanks for the replys, I guess I'd be better off with another light. I could probably get a good perpetual grow going with another 600..

i could never sleep well when using movers. i just knew that thing would fall off track somehow while i was sleeping. when i did use them i didnt make area bigger . it just gave better coverage to the same area . especially the edges. therefore the buds on edges were denser and yield went up. i aint ever using em again tho. murphys law and all

Light movers are great. They dont create light though. But they help with shading. I let my mover move 6 inches off center. No more than that and they area it is illuminating stays the same. Wouldn't grow with out it. If you are staying in a 4x4 square with 6 plants you will love it

You can approximate a flip flop with a light mover. For example, for a 1000 watt light, set up an area that is 4' by 6'. Some people even use 5' by 7'. The trick is to use a cycle timer that allows the light to move only enough to stall at each end of your rail. You can use different intervals for each end. Some people use two hours and some use six hours.

there aint no magic involved in a lightrail . if you make area too big you get airy buds. been there done that long ago. glad i got rid of all mine and doubled my lights instead.

yeah. they are what they are. I only use them in veg with bare bulbs. watch out they like to sneak up behind your behind..
