Light Leaks

I am wondering how important it is to have a completely light proof tent, my is not very high quality and has some areas alittle light can get in (from a 40w CFL about 5 feet away) during the night cycle. I was thinking the moon sheds some light naturally so it can't be so adverse to plants..

I assume having a perfectly dark tent would accelerate the maturity of the plant. anyone have any knowledge on this matter?

you'll hear folks tell you that any pinhole of light will hermie your plants and wreck your grow. my experience doesn't bear that out though. there's pinholes of light that enters my room through the wall mount ac units i have and also a little bit of red light that my old sentinel controller emits. i've seen nanners on one pheno of one strain on one occasion in the 2 years i've been in my current workspace.

that said, i can't see how much light you've got coming in either. if you want to play it safe, grab a roll of hvac tape. it looks like tin foil with a sticky backing. it's easy to work with and it's totally opaque. the cheap stuff is less than $10 a roll and will work fine for your purposes.

best of luck.

I found out some things awhile back I like to share, something just told me while at was at friend house and check out his grow that if you use two lights and have the weakest light turn on 15 to 30 min before the stronger lights come on it sort of trains the plant to expect the occasionally light without freaking out and shoot balls just make sure before light out you cut your stronger lights off 15 to 30 mins also the plants will not freak out and throw balls but i only know this method to work with a quick light leak like a min or two but thats what I experience not sure if it's a fluke but It works for me :)

Yes about a year ago I seen first hand what light leaks can do but adjusting the lights seemed to have solved the problem

A outside plant don't hermi but the sun go dim to bright to dim so I would say my remedy is sort of mimicking the sun by training the plant with the dim to bright stages of light seems to work well, but we all know nothing is granteed

Avant Gardner is dead on with the foil tape. DO NOT USE DUCK TAPE! It isn't made for high heat, the HVAC tape will seal your stuff up and is made for super high heat, it doesn't dry out either.

good advice I also tried reflective duck taped that looked like mylar or aluminium foil never thought about the heat
