light issues

I just found out that my light timer in my flower room was shutting down after 4 hours. I was having it on from 8PM - 8AM but unknown to me it was shutting off at midnight. I have no idea how long this has been going on but it would explain why the buds grew so slowly and never got real big.
:smokeit:I reset it for 12 / 12 today. The question of the day is how will this affect my girls still in the flower room? They have been in there 4 weeks so far.
Should I work up to 12/12 slowly by adding an hour or two a day or just go straight to 12/12.
Anyone ever run into this before?

Thanks in advance for your comments

once i accidentally flicked a few of the little switches on my timer, so that halfway through the dark period, my lights would turn on for half an hour.

in the end this partially retarded my budding process by 3-4 weeks, and i found that by watching the trichomes the buds took about 3 weeks longer total after fixing the timer.

i would guess that you may experience the same sort of thing, or you may not, since your mistake was sorta in the opposite direction...i'd expect a lower yield and definitely don't expect it to finish at a normal time, it could be way late, or who knows, maybe it will be a little early...you will probably just need to be really sure before you decide to harvest.

I would just set them for 12/12 right away and hopefully your final yield won't be effected to severely. I'm sure you will loose some yield, but it could have been a lot worse. I would think the outcome would be different from strain to strain and less harm would have been done if it were a longer flowering and more Sativa leaning pheno or strain.

You might find your plants will finish the same time, or may be longer than usual - I don't think anyone can answer that question. Just keep an eye on the trichromes and wait until she tells you when she is finished. I don't think the suggested flower time can be useful anymore, but I find it's usually off anyways.

Who knows, you might find yield isn't effected much at all - that would be bomb - so don't worry too much. I know I would be freaking, but thats just me - hence the reason I smoke.

Do you know how long the timer has been like that?

Good luck and let us know how they do - It would be very interesting to see how it effects them. I got my fingers crossed for you!

I think the timer was doing this last crop which ended up with a shitload of light popcorn buds that never seemed to fill out. At the time I was thinking that it was nutes or something but now I know.
4 hour light cycle / day = shitty buds = low yield .
I went straight to 12/12 so time will tell.
However thanks to my Bonsai MOMF (mom of many flavors) I still have both strains and can move forward with just some lost time.

On that note I now have a third strain that I plan on trying to graft onto my MOMF soon. Stay tuned

Man, I hate those timer switches! During my last grow, mine fucked off about halfway through flowering and made the plants hermie like crazy! I still have that weed, it smells, looks and tastes terrible and even the hash oil I made with it kinda tastes shitty. I hope your plants will recover and won't grow penises!

Mine is a digital timer that I was unaware shut off at midnight.
The fix is to set noon as midnight and set for 08:00 to 20:00. That way my lights at night work. (I light at night for power and heat issues)
Time will tell if things will do well.
