Light Dep/Airflow question

I like to make these little DIY Earthboxes out of 2-liter bottles cut in half, they are absolutely perfect little self-watering SOG pots...I'm just about ready to clip some clones and flower them out, but I do not have a bud room right now, so I wanted to do it outside with light dep...my question is, can I just put a 5-gallon bucket painted black over the top of them for 12-hours a day or do I need to somehow get some airflow in there...and if so, how does one do that without any light leaks.

Tell you what to do. Buy a 55 gal black composter or similar. Sit under it for 12 hrs. Let me know how you make out

What you want to do is figure out when it gets light, cover the plants 12 hours later in the evening and then remove the cover when it gets dark. They will only be covered for 3 or 4 hours. If you just wait around a month they will just flower on their own. You probably need something larger than a bucket also.

I just got done doing light deprivation on a little group of plants in small containers. I was picking them up and moving them into a light tight closet in my garage at about 3pm every day and then moving them back outside after dark. The hours of low airflow in the closet didn't seem to do much harm, airflow might be more important during lights on time when the plant is actively using the momentum of photons as an energy source to fix atmospheric CO2. What does a plant need airflow in the dark for? It doesn't need a source of CO2 gas during those hours.

Well, for this project a 5-gallon bucket will definitely work, unfortunately there are HID streetlights outside that will negatively effect this happening naturally.

My heart tells me it isn't going to go well, but I wish you luck.

Been toying with the idea of putting a bunch of passive air intakes, made the with those pet odor air filters backed on both sides with some almost let-tight, yet breathable, black fabric...prolly need quite a few, they will be low airflow.
