1000 watt hps. the ones right under it look a little... lighter and brownish. they are about 22 inches away and i unfortunately cant move the light up any further...:mad:

how bad is light burn for plants?? will it fuck up anything?

they're not over heating, the leaves just look a little browner. im a week into 12/12 and would rather not have to move my whole set up. ive been twisting stems between my fingers and bending them down to move them a few inches away from the light. will that lower my yields or cause stress to the plant? im not actually breaking stems open just "crunching" them and bending them down.

thanks!

yes. It will burn your buds, ruin potency and and in general is not good for your plants.

That's called supercropping. It's better than burning your nugs, but it will cause a delay in bud formation. If you can pull the whole top of the plant down without breaking it and tie it to something heavy, you will divide the new growth over several growth tips which will reduce your overall stretch and keep you away from your light.

Is 22 inches to close for the 1000. I have mine about the same as that and the ones right under the light are looking a little yellowish. But the ones on the outside are a lot greener. If thats the problem how high should the lights be 3 ft?

just bend them so they are 28" away i personally think 24" is far enough but you could have a sensitive pheno....

thanks ill do that instead of super cropping. btw my roommate told me theyre not turning brown, just a lighter green. color blindness for the loss :(

Any set distance that someone gives you is just a guideline. As moses pointed out, some plants are more sensitive than others. The bottom line is that if the tops of the plant are curling or bleaching out, the light is too close.

For the record, I have nothing against supercropping....... in veg, as long as you give the plant enough time to heal before flipping the switch.
