Light burn? Confirmation Please

Hello,

This is my first post on the forums, and I wish it were pretty pics, but instead it's damaged leaves :-(.

I've recently moved a couple of my plants from their vegetative spot to the flowering room. I had them under 3 65-watt CFL's for their vegetative growth, and my largest plant actually touched the CFL tubes for a little bit before my flowering light came in the mail. I moved it that night but not before a little burning (nothing severe) happened.

The day after I moved them into the flowering room, I noticed some strange leaf damage on a couple of the blades of the largest plant (the one that touched the CFL's) I've been frantically looking through books and websites trying to find the culpurate "pest", but I can't find anything that matches what I'm see'ing, so I'm thinking it may just be residual burn damage. Here's some pics, they were taken with my phone so they're not great, but you can see the damage well enough.

Like I said, the damage is isolated to that one leaf on certain blades. Just want to confirm that it's burn damage because if it's not and I need to be finding a pest I want to get on it.

It's mostly around the main vein and ate all the green in between the veins, but all the veins are actually still in tact.

Thanks in advance!

I'm gonna spray them all down with some mint leave water, I'm hoping that helps this unknown infestation. I have been searching for those buggers everywhere though and can't find a thing. To do that kind of damage in the space of a day it would need to be a pretty significant infestation, wouldn't it?

Any help appreciated.. Quarantine the plant? Would cutting off that one leaf be an effective method of keeping it from spreading?

I can't tell what the damage is, it looks like little holes, or maybe black spots on the leaves.
It is almost impossible to get light burn from CFL's because they produce very little heat, so chances are you have a bug infestation of some sort.

heh. lolagirl, does the damage actually look like cat chew or are you just pulling my leg. I ask because we happen to have at our house a 15 year old cat that LOVES to chew on plants. Now I of course have my girls out of her reach, but if that blight doesn't spread I'm gonna go ahead and chalk it up to emma the cat - haha.

Anyway, I sprayed some repellant, clipped off the affected leave, and made sure to lower the temperature. I found out the flowering room was reaching 85 degrees at night, so if there was an infestation I'm sure that heat wasn't helping.. Hopefully that's the last I see of the damage for now. Thanks for the help guys!

sprayed some repellant???? EEEKKK!

Don't put OFF or something similar on your plants. they will die...

Yes! Emma the cat chewed those leaves.... I have a cat! I recognize the damage patterns!

oh don't worry! By repellant, I meant a natural repellant I read about in Cervantes' book; some mint leaves and water. With any luck the plants will just think it's a regular misting :).

"Cooking or heating preparations can destory active ingredients. To extract ingredients, mince plant and soak in mineral oil for a couple of days. Add this oil to the water including a little detergent or soap to emulsify the oil droplets in water. Biodegradable detergents and soaps are good wetting-sticking agents for these preparations. Soap dissolves best if a teaspoon (.75 cl) of alcohol is also added to each quart (.9 L) of mix.

Chrysanthemum, marigold . . . mint, organo . . . residues all will repel many insects including aphids, caterpillars, mites, and white-flies."

That's from Jorge Cervantes book so that I don't get nailed for plagerism. If you want a more in depth recipe send me a PM and I'll type out the various ways to prep it.

AHHHHHH. STUPID CATS!!!! haha.

One of them got in there again last night and chewed a little bit again. Hopefully he decided he didn't like the taste because it looks like he stopped pretty quick. Silly cat!
