I joined the National Guard in 1965. I had passed the draft physical and was maybe two weeks away from being drafted. I got in, BTW, with a bunch of hoofing to several NG armories.......no pull from anyone! FYI, if we missed ONE drill(1/2 day I believe) we were given a warning. Miss the second drill and they send your ass to Vietnam in the regular Army infantry. That was the way it was for us non priviledged NGers. I even served on active duty with a couple of Texans who taught me about(some) Texans. No it was not THAT Texan. They would literally buy their way out of every duty they had. Even took a TAXI to Nevada from Fort Ord Calif so they could get laid.(Both were married) Their biggest concern was beating their American Express bill home so the wives would not see them.

In 1967 a friend introduced me to pot at a weekend overnight drill where we were night firing the weapons on our tanks. That was absolutely incredible. The stuff seemed to fit me, maybe because I come from a long line of alcoholics.

Started growing in 1972 when we moved to Oregon. Broke in with the famed "Duke", now passed on, who got his start selling brown paper bags FULL in the mid '50s for ten bucks. I remember us saying...........hmmmmmmm, SINsemilla...........that must mean no seeds. How do you make no seeds, why keep that boy cum away from dem ladies!!!!!! And then it went...........

Many more stories, including a black helicopter in my backyard while on the local school board.

Will do more later. This is fun!

Got turned on by a New York guy ("Tank") in 1967 in Army. First hit, I thought "Man, where have YOU been all my life?". My Army "carreer" (3 years) was filled with pot, hash,PCP,LSD,mescaline, peyote,Romilar CF,booze. No wonder why we lost.

If it is vietnam you refer to than I am not quite convinced yet that we lost b/c of the items you mention. I'd safely say there were a few more factors but this is a topic better suited for another forum or even board entirely.

Now back on topic.

I thought I was an old timer since I have been toking for almost 20 years. Nice to feel young.

peace
