I never click on outside links, both because my internet connection is sometimes slower than hell and it takes forever to load, and I have read that is sometimes that's not secure practice, irregardless of the disclaimers (they just want you to click on it). But anyway, sometimes you just feel, "Up on a high-wire, one side ice, and one is fire." :tiphat:

Whoa, Jumpin Jack Flash first thing in the morning! Leon was involved deeply in the music industry for a long time. Worked with a lot of different musicians. Produced albums for other bands.

He did an album called Hank Wilson's Back which was covers of his favorite country tunes. Great album. He had it produced and printed for release without his name on it, but the record company placed a sticker with his name on the outside.

If you're a Leon fan willing to click links, check this out. It will blow your mind.

Amen to that. Really hurts sometimes when you see what time is doing to these old musicians.

Dude totally looks like a wizard, looks cool as hell....but when you see guys this old they move like senior citizens...just doesn't fit with the energy we know them for in the tunes they've given us from the past.

Damn you Father Time! (as I look in the mirror....)

Leon's been a favorite of mine since the 70s, it really hurt me to find him so immersed in gospel (70s/80s) as I don't care for that music at all. Here's Joe Cocker & Leon doing 'Cry Me A River'.

Not many ways of making Leon better than just Leon....but throwing in some Joe Cocker certainly is one way..

Awesome.

Didn't those guys have an album back in the day called Mad Dogs And Englishmen?

He's one I haven't had the pleasure of seeing live. Probably never will given his advancing years. Does he still tour?

anybody seen Leon live before?:bump:

I saw Leon back in the early 70's when he used to wear the top hat.
Saw him do a concert again 3 years ago in a tiny auditorium for about 150 of his old diehard fans, including me..He signed a CD cover for me. Wish I had remembered to take my old "Hank Wilson's Back" album to ask him to sign instead....

I saw Leon Russell in 1974 at RFK Stadium in DC. The New Riders of the Purple Sage opened up. The owners of the Redskins vowed that no one would be allowed onto the infield. The first notes of the New Riders unleashed a wave of people rolling onto the grass led by a guy with a big pot leaf flag. The cops just stood there doing nothing. Leon came out in a white tuxedo with his white top hat and a white grand piano, which he got up and danced on. About 1981 I saw him at the Cellar Door in DC, a small club, where he played with the New Grass Revival, pre Bela Fleck.

Leon and Willie Nelson did a tour together. They both performed on stage at the same time the whole concert. I saw it at Carowinds theme park in the outdoor arena called The Palladium near Charlotte, NC.
It came up a downpour of rain. Like I said, outdoor stadium. Nobody left. Willie played "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and the place went wild.
This must have been back in the late 70s.
