legal questions.. undercover

so. yesterday undercover cops came to my friends house with a warrent driving a kia sportage.. so . they said they have a year old warrant of 6 felonys .. and are saying that he sold a gram of weed and a gram of hash to a undercover cop a year ago.. -yet they never arrested him nor showed any evidence of the sale or the money they used in the sale. .

- so basically they arrested him for a year old warrant of him allegdly selling a undercover cop weed a year ago.. my question is since when did cops buy weed from some one and dont arrest them or follow them or do anything for a year ???

i was under the assumption that cops arrested people in stings.. and have to have the money that the drugs were bought with and also the drugs.. not keep the drugs and let them keep the money and leave and just throw a case when they get around to it ..

Must of been a slow day at the cop shop. Generally speaking to get a warrant the undercover cop had to go before a judge and swear that he bought such and such from so and so when ever. As its a small amount I'd get an attorney and fight like hell to make the whole thing go away. If it wasn't a big enough bust to do it right when the buy was alleged to have taken place, then it's small enough to make it go away with a good attorney.

hmmm when will people learn. Ask to see the evidence against you before accepting responsability for anything.

What plea deal did your friend take?

This story sounds kinda odd really

They do this all the time where I live in the states. They'll wait a minimum of 3 months so you can't remember who the snitch was. Ive heard of cases going over a year though because they like to get 2 buys on someone so that they have a sealed felony against them no matter. If it takes them 2 years to g et that second buy i hear they'll do it.

I bet he was given a ticket for the herb, then he/she never showed up for court.
Then the Courts decided to serve the warrant, very commonplace.
They can hold warrants for years and then come get you for no apparent reason
except that it was your time to be chosen by the system, kinda like the slot machines
I had that happen way back in 88 2 yrs after the no show for my ticket.
came to my home knocking a 5am, I answered the door half asleep, they informed me of the warrant, showed it to me, let me dress up, I went in paid my fine came home. my warrant was for a stupid 5mph over the speed limit traffic ticket.

Where I live in the states they usually wait about 5 to 6 months before they get the warrant. They test it at the state pig crime lab before they get the arrest warrant.

It's called a secret or silent indictment.

Secret Indictment.

It allows the undercover informants or leos to not arrest someone for a crime committed. Thus, an undercover can continue to buy in order to stack charges against someone who has no idea they have been indicted.

It's pretty sickening.
