That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Why waste energy and create heat with lights that don't do anything? The plants are going to stretch like crazy when you induce flowering, anyways.
I will save you the trouble of searching and LINK to the GrowFAQ for you.
jack, no offence but i think you don't know the ledgrow technicque so good to judge knna's posts. he is one of the guys that really know what he is talking about. you are so wrong with your statement. it is true that you can't grow only with halogens, but when using them with leds, they become very usefull. we disgussed that several times on different forums. google for emmerson effect.
nice experiment going on here. ive had my eyes on leds for a while and the prices are just starting to come down to a better range....still too expensive initially for myself though.
im gonna keep an eye on this thread to see how the flowers develop. thats the real test we need to see
Aww thanks man! Thats just a great pic! It will remain my computer's desktop backround for quite a while I think
K+ for all the great work and research you've been doing with LEDs too!
I'd love to try having a LED array custom built for my computer case growbox sometime if the cost wasn't too steep.
i have a problem with your installation....everbody is interested how big your yeild will be at the end, sure also the quality and health of the plants....but, lets think you will have the same yeild at both....what does it say? sure, it says...its working...and thats great, but it would be more interesting to see if you could get the same yeild as the hps, but with using only half of the led....in theory it should be possible....but with your practice we will not now it, because it could be that the plants under this among of led, cannot absorb all the par..........a critic between all the compliments....but a great compliment for this very first exciting experiment, whitch took a long long time to be born
the hps is winning so far then, just like i thought it would
i wonder where greg is cos he seemed insistant led would be better all the way through lol
Looks to me like the HPS has a large lead over the LEDs. You might be able to grow good smoke with LEDs, but I think it is still some time off before they become a really viable alternative for growers. I have done a lot of small-scale growing, lots of different small micro setups in a variety of cupboards and closets. Used all kinds of fluorescent setups, had good results with 160w of CFLS (8x20w) and then went to a 400w tube array (10 x 40w 2ft tubes) that measured 2 foot x 18 inches and had a very high light intensity. (whole array produced 33000 lumens). However, I switched to using a 250w HPS in a cooltube and ever since i have found HPS to be vastly superior to CFLs, just more issues with heat. LEDs definitely interest me, but i will wait until the technology improves and becomes cheaper.
such an enticing video... no really. it's good that you do this "battle" to get field results. all i'm seeing on these forums are people shooting different numbers to each other about which is better, etc. way to go! i would like to incorporate some leds in the future, but i will wait patiently for the technology to improve and lower price.
Did you start the LED room flowering too? That screen is no way near full enough, sorry to say. n order to get a good harvest of the LEDs, that screen would need to be full.
me and some other users told him that, but he didn't listen to us. he swithced both places to 12/12, for leds far too early IMHO. there will be some buds, but not as much as there should be.
British_Hempire, yes the both rooms, were fliped together at 12/12 A lot of people told me that, that only in this way the compare grow will be fair. Maybe next time I will wait a little longer for the leds
