Led Vs. Hps - 70w Challenge

One poor plant isn't going to effect this experiment. All you have to do is take the poorest one under the HPS and remove it and then you have 5 vs 5. If your mother was weird to begin with, its likely that, that clone has lost its vigor and probably wont come back.

The problem is that there are 3 girls from AK-47 in each room, but AK-47 girls in led room, loke worse than AK-47 girls in HPS room. For now I will let the doors open for more fresh air, and then I will see, if AK-47 in led room, will be nicer.

oh mr medo, i didn't know you're also posting here.

great work as i said before. mad props to LED & yourself. LED don't waste ur energy on ignorant mofos. and yes, we both know u're earning bigtime with your experiments. :dueling: :muahaha:
have fun & stay safe

here we go, some new update, girls are in 22 days under leds/HPS. AK-47 in the led room is getting better.

and girls under LEDs

after 7 days I will probably go to 12/12.

have a nice day

Girls are in 26 days of vegetation under leds and 70W HPS. after 4 days I will turn it 12/12

Have a nice day :)

knna, i guess you noticed that hps net is more filled than led. we have been disgussing about switching to 12/12, but still have mixed oppinions. should both boxes be switched to 12/12 at the same time, or should he wait with leds untill the net in led box gets filled as much as the hps net will be when switching hps to 12/12?

Another question.

Could you explain your scrog technique?

No topping, straight up, bending back under, spreading them out, or what?

Second post loved lurking.

as for the question of 12/12 LED / HPS. I want to know which grows faster, and what results you get in the normal amount of time you should flower under each light. So what I mean is this:

I wouldn't want you to slow down the HPS to let the LED catch up, I also wouldn't want you to flow the LED early to be on par with the HPS. Instead, let both grow how they should grow and when ready switch to 12/12 when they SHOULD be.

After going 12/12 give them the proper time, even if one is longer then the other to fully develop and bud out so that we can see a real comparison not only on yield but on time in the garden spent with each lighting source.

make sense or am I taking it a bit too far?

I think they should both be flipped at the same time, giving the led's a chance to catch up is unfair on the experiment.

Thats just not true. If you look at grams per watt it is not an accurate representation; but if you look at grams per watt/month, you get an accurate representation. If you flipped the HPS and then latter flipped the LED and they both yielded the exact same amount, the HPS would still be more efficient.

Ok, for example:

HPS vegged for 2 weeks, then flowered for 8 weeks = total of 10 weeks
LED vegged for 3 weeks, then flowered for 8 weeks = total of 11 weeks

HPS yielded 112 grams / 70w = 1.6 g per watt
LED yielded 112 grams / 70w = 1.6 g per watt

HPS 1.6 / 10 = .16 grams w/m
LED 1.6 /11 = .14 grams w/m

See how it doesn't matter when either one is clicked to budding?

While I agree with the rest of you, you should flip them both together. Although, when is the point that the HPS fills the screen too much?

see, there is one difference between hps and led. i noticed that plants under hps stretch more than those under led. so if you have a 10cm long branch with 5 budsites or 25 cm long branch with 5 budsites you have to admit that there is difference. hps plant stretched more and covered bigger area of the net. led plants usualy don't stretch so much, so the coverage is not as fast as under hps. but at the same coverage there usually are more budsites than under hps.
i allready said, they are not my plants so i don't mind what you do with them. but if using the same logics, maybe you should even harvest them at the same time. just a thought.

I agree. It would skew the results.

Either way, this is really interesting, and I will be watching this thread. :lurk:

then you suggest that I turn to 12/12 at the both places together?

ce bos, stavim na hps :D
sicer pa pras edinga cloveka, k ga poznas, da je fural scrog na led. mislm, da ves o kom govorim. ;) pa tut knna ve o cem govori, z razliko od vecine.

as i said, i don't suggest you that, but do it if you want.

Hello

Medved nice grow you have there.I would let the led room babies, to fill the screen a bit more before flowering. As someone already wrote here, would compare g/W/m.I think would be shame to start 12/12 too soon.

Drugač pa kr tko naprej,je lepo za videt.

LED experiments- hud panel, verjetno si porabil nešteto ur, da si ga sestavu

Look good man!

I too would like to see both setups flipped to 12/12 at the same time though. I think that keeping all the variables (other than the lighting) equal, which includes the veg time, is really the only fair way to conduct this experiment.

The LEDs are lookin pretty nice so far, but I'll be really intrested to see how they compare once flowering gets underway. I'd also be curious to see a side by side experiment with a HPS, LEDs, CFLs, and T5 Fluoro tubes to see how the results compare, but that would take some serious space and investment.

But anyhoo, great job man! I can't wait to see how these LED plants turn out in comparison with the HPS ones :smoke:

Helou everybody, today is a last day of vegetation in the both places. So I think that I need to post some more pics :) Here are the ladies in 29 days of vegetation. And let the flowering begin :rasta:
