LED Porn

I hear ya about it being a work in progress. . . it's not as easy as using an HPS in the sense that there aren't as many baseline standards that you can look up here on IC Mag & just roll with. There's a little more experimentation involved.

So the Pro light hang higher, huh? Interesting. . . I wasn't sure of what to make of those, but it sounds like I'll have to check them out. I just measured my mom plants under the 126 and they're about 8-9" from the LED. They seem to like it. I just put a bunch of kids for this year's outdoor run under the other half of the same 126, but they were about 14" away, and they about doubled in height over the course of 2 days due to stretch! Apparently it wasn't enough juice for 'em.

Using two lights sounds killer. My setup doesn't allow for the lights to be moved at all, so they're hung and then stay stationary. I currently have a couple LA Confidential gals flowering under the 205 watt LED and a SCROG net. You can check it out at the link in my signature if you want. I'm actually going to take the 205 watt model out for my next run and instead use a string of 126 watters. Hopefully I'll get the same results as you once the different fixture are all working together.

Looking forward to your future updates. I can't believe more growers haven't started using these yet!

Yeah the pro is a fair bit stronger than the 1w, i think i overdosed some sc99 by having too close in initial use. Absolutely no stretch with the pro with the genes im using atm which is not ideal. One light is OK but im pretty sure 2 really help the grow if you can have some overlap happening. The idea imo is to get the led as close as possible while retaining coverage and avoiding burn. I seen your attick build(excellent job) so i realise the restrictions your dealing with. You may have to reconsider where and how your lights are mounted to take advantage of using two lights in the future. I will post some pics tonight of my overlap method to give you a idea.
Re your last statement, theres too much dis-information and thus risk for most atm, plus they are expensive hehe.

So your saying forget about building your own, and just buy from hydro gro led? i guess there has been alot of r&d thrown into these and not all info on the actual is given?

any chance you can get me a photo up close of the actual Led's? preferably the 3w jobs.

You can buy from anyone you wish, im not a HGL stooge, im just happy to show what works for me. I would suggest though that you research which brands and models work good in flower to avoid dissapointment.

Later tonight, should be ok.

Yer i was following leds when the hgl girl joined up here and started talking about them.. was interesting untill all the shit started.

i am pretty hands on so can probably make up my own if i can fine the leds.. price dependent clearly.. this would allow me to make up something that would work with the style of lighting i need.

Here is 1W version Technique, followed by 3W version. Sorry they arent real helpfull, the lens conceals most of what the diodes look like. There are several different types of diodes used in these, so they dont all look the same.

Here is the overlap thing BSR. Handy in a cab when down to three.

getting faattter

This one is of the middle plant of above pic and was only switched on the 15/3 making it day 50. Its gonna be a fatty i think.

Cheers for that. they kinda look like surface mount. kinda hard to tell. might have to trawl the web for someone whos pulled one apart..

the nugs are looking impressive however. whats your g/pw like? or still not got any scales?

No idea of gpw, i have scales now so i should stop smoking everything so i can weigh it. :)
Some other thread on here made working out a gpw a scientific journey that needed 12 months minimum of a concoction of figures including house rent if your grow house was rented among other hair brained inclusions so i havent bothered, i just smoke it and smile.

I'm sure tafe have a class for that. might be worth looking into :groupwave:

whens your next pulldown going to be? get a wet weight and subtract about 75% that way you can pick while its still drying.. as i assume you do :)

One girl gets the chop tomorrow night at day 69. This will be the ripest ive had SC99 and going by the cuttings ive been taking every day for about week, she going to be a primo smoke. The other two in the cab are beefing up nicely, pretty stumpy plants though.
More pics tomorrow of some cut buds.

Here are some pics of the day 69 chop.

Surprised to see still a lot of clear and milky compared to amber.

Here we have a PPP joining the cab with a SC99 either side which will finish off in a week or so. The cab will get some Satori visitors when cindy leaves.

Hey welcome back Bundy.
Some said you were still bogged in the carpark at Nimbin :chin:

Habeeb, how is your testing going and are you documenting it?

LOL yeah mate back now for another year. Didn't make it to Nimbin, spent a couple of weeks on the Gold Coast with my daughter, which was more important then anything, but will make it there next year i hope. About to start another grow, have some winteries in, only little girls, a few clones in the incubater, but look good atm. Be setting my room up this weekend to run a few Blue Satellites to see how they go. Trying to keep quiet here and doing a good job of it. Catch up soon mate with a few pics.

:tiphat:

Here's a few shots of my first grow with LED's. The strain is LUI which gets very chunky and I thought I'd get nothing but I used a 90W UFO for veg and first 4 weeks of flower then added a 130W fluoro and I was happilly surprised by the results.

Being sceptical of all thing new and hyped I only went for a cheapo UFO but I can really see the potential of high quality LED arrays and I plan on either buying one or constructing one as the heat issues that are taken out of the equation alone make them worth the $$$ IMO. I am however going to wait awhile before I go ahead and make the switch as I'm taking a little break from growing and just took this years outdoor which should keep me smiling for awhile. Clowd... beautiful work and pics by the way mate, very impressive.

Thanks Mountain Monkey, nice pics you have there too mate, grown well with the lighting you used. Anyone would smoke that!
The heat benefit sure is worth noting. You wont have that issue with your outdoor this year, unless theres wildfires heh
