Been seriously thinking about these led's and would love to experiment but the nits a friggin expensive for being in such beginning phases of the technology...guess ima have to wait till i get some cash, but id love to cut down on electricity usage, as well as heat....any thoughts? it may be a good idea to have a led forum for this up and coming technology.....anyone spots cheaper led unitsfeel free to holla! :abduct:

Thanks for that link! I had considered LEDs when I first started planning this project just a little while ago, but quickly gave up.

These sound like the ticket though. I am just wondering if anyone has any more experience with them? Truly they seem too good to be true if they can REALLY equal a 1000w hps in yield. If you are buying a new setup, then these aren't THAT expensive and will pay for themselves in other ways.

Am I crazy for thinking of going with these rather than 1000w magnum xxxls cooled?

I'm not one who considers them ready for primetime. Especially for one who's looking for the yield multiple Magnums are expected to bring. Try a Advanced Search by Titles Only for LED and read what others here have experianced

Yeah, I did, and that is why I gave up. I thought the same thing. But IF those that you posted do what they claim I am definitely in. I said this in the thread over there, but:

A new 1000w Magnum XXXL setup ~ $700.

This new LED setup ~ $1200.

But then I don't have fans, ducting, and rewiring because I can run 4 of these off a single 20 amp fuse and then I don't need AC either? That is not even counting the electricity savings.

I am actually a little frustrated, because I thought that I had completely figured out my reflector/ballast/light setup and fans/exhaust, but now I am in a mad search/debate again! Argh!

By the way, thanks for the reply and repped!
