LED 💡 for 4ft x 4f x 6.6ft tent

Tittle said it all, I'm looking for a LED light for a 4ft x 4ft tent, I've already seen Mars Hydro Smart FC 4800-EVO (480w) and Spider Farmer SF4000 (450w) and MIGRO ARAY 4x4 (500w), I'm not acquainted with LED lights (many years without growing indoors), and I'm a bit concerned that so low wattage... of course, it sounds awesome, but I have some doubts about if so low wattage can be enough (I do mainly pure sativas strains). I hope it could be just with one light, I don't like to have some much gear around since later I will have a veg/mons/clone tent, and room could get crowded easy.

These brands are fairly easy to buy with no or little shipping costs in my corner of the world, and seems like fair quality brands. Is for personal use, I don't have intentions of win any prize or go pro/commercial. I hope fellow icmag friends can give me some , I mean help me to make the right decision.

I got 2 Spider Farmers 4000 and have grown big Sativa plants with them.
1 light like that will give you enough light in a 4 X 4 and they have a built-in dimmer.
I know nothing about the other lights you mentioned.

I splurged on an IONFRAME EVO6, SAMSUNG LM301H EVO COMMERCIAL LED GROW LIGHT, 500W, 4X4 FT from AC Infinity. It lists for around $560 but there's at least one Youtube grow channel (Hiagain I think?) where you can get 10% off the order by keying in their code.

I did a PPFD test using a light app on my phone and cranked to the max, the light will put out well over 1,000 PPFD even being a few feet above the plants. You can also take off the inverter box and have that outside the tent to keep the tent temp down. The LED lights themselves put off a little heat, but not even close to what the inverter box or whatever it is does. The box could act as a tent heater in colder areas leaving it on the light inside the tent. The light is sturdy as hell and folds in half for storage.

I'm not sure if you were a bit ironic (the hempy's post didn't help, since it looks to me a bit... well, let's say childish), IDK if you meant that the lights examples I talked about are "a no no" for pure sativas (ACE Seeds mainly), or a yes.

This one: Thanks for the info, but I can't buy AC Infinity lights here (weird enough they have shop in my local amazon, but just with inline fans).

Yeah, the new Samsung LM301H LED's looks like the new big deal, Mars Hydro have already this same LM301H Samsung LED, which really looks sexy to me, the drive can be placed outside the tent as well (2 meter cable).
I could end (as almost always) paying the new last yell, but I'm well aware that lights are the thing where you must spend most of the money.

Id go for a lumatek zeus pro 465w migro aray 4x4 or ac infinity evo 6 and you wont be disappointed. The migro is about £200 cheaper than the lumatek and ac infinity but is still very high quality and has a more even light spread. Ac infinity might be a better buy if you're in the states though as we pay more in the uk for ac infinity gear. all great lights though

Lumatec ZEUS 465 (pro 2.9 model/version is what I find here in south EU), cost almost double than Migro, Mars, and more than double than Spider Farm must be nice gear for sure. So one vote for Migro here

It's 1.44sqm of grow space. A 450w light isn't going to cut it. Lets say it gives you 2.5umol/w so we have 1125umol from the light. It has to cover ~ 1.5 meters, so that's a ppfd of ~ 700 if you had no depreciation. We have all seen the charts though. A 450w light is pretty minimal, and that's running it at 100%

You really want to be in the 600w region, giving 400w a meter, 1000umol before the obvious losses of mounting it high enough to light the space evenly. It's this 600w light that might give you 650umol, with some headroom for more in the last weeks. A 600w will be physically bigger, to light it evenly, which is itself a much easier ride.

If you were in the states, I might suggest the $550 625w 1600umol fluence (osram) light. It has no silly colours associated with yield loss. Just white+red. With a price that makes a proper light, compete with budget brands.
Switching to budget brands instead, they are all basically the same, and I wouldn't want any of it. However, Mars have been very good to us. I can't pick something a competitor is doing better really. I don't see any need to look further. They are the budget/midrange champions here. Don't expect a 4x4 full of killer plants with anybodies 450w light though. You won't be killing it with under 650umol of ppfd. Even the 625w light wouldn't interest some growers. Bugbee seems to use 720w often. We have one member here, over 1000w.

I’ve got the mars 6500 in a 4x4 area. This thing just barely fits and was a literal pain to get in place. I have some physical ailments and for me the 4800 was needed. That said, the 6500 is bright AF. Lights up the tent like crazy. Haven’t measured ppfd but it’s got to be up there. I run it about 90% . Gorilla also sells a led. I have their tent and had very positive dealings with their support team. The tent is good and strong, well built. Based on that, I would recommend looking into the led from gorilla. Whatever you choose, doesn’t seem you can really go wrong. Good luck.

Yeah, it's looks to me much more realistic, I just was dreaming that LEDs lights could be so awesome to be enough 480w for a 4ft x 4ft tent.

I need to re-think it all then.

What's your 6500 Mars Hydro's LED model? FC-6500?, FC 6500-EVO? Or FC-E6500?

This Mars Hydro FC-E6500 730w, is in the edge budget for me, or what I wish should be my limit, I hope there aren't any compulsory buy attack coming towards me xD

So you ended with the 4800 (+- 480w)? If so, how is doing it for you? Do you grow pure sativas or hard leaning sativas?

When I did my first indoors (in high school, +- 30 years back), I just needed to sell part of it because of the electric bills, I was fairly north and even there tents gets hot AF, so when I start few days ago to look into it again, there was only celestial music around, fresh lights, 400 - 500 watts, full spectrum... it sounds all soooo nice

You should also have a look at our sponsor Phlizon. I am currently testing one of their FD6500 650W lights and it certainly fills a 4 x 4 space nicely. It seems very well-made and it has been perfect so far.

A 4x4 is a 1000 HID. Where we might of seen 1.7umol/w. When LED reaches 3.5umol/w then we can think about 500w replacing 1000w.
However, some people did a 4x4 with a 6. Which a 450w LED should be able to replace.
It's interesting to see people with 650w, are actually using them, or most of them. They are not turning them down to 450, unless there grow is going wrong. Or they are getting the plants acclimatised.

450w will certainly work. It's entry level, but 30w a foot of reasonable LED will work. It's just not a target I would set myself. You may buy a 650 and run it at 450 while you find your feet again, but 450w would soon become a hindrance, If you want to step up.

I'm trying to be careful, not to say 450w won't work. It will. It just won't be 650w

Is there any reason to the difference between prices? Same wattage lights from Mars, Spider or Migro are almost double in price, so I hope you understand my concerns.
