This is a serious question. I have a potent cultivar with a genetic defect in the males, the leaves never unfurl correctly. I have considered the ramifications. No species can exist without males. If placed in the sun the males will die. The males must be grown in the shade! I have tried to breed this defect out when the defect is not present its a female. Should I keep this cultivar or destroy it? By the wat the females have Dark purple/red stems at maturity.

I should have said no homogenis species can survive without males in the wild.

We do not need undesirable traits in the Cannabis gene pool.

Why do you get to decide if a trait is undesirable? Genetic mutation is evolution at work, why are so many trying to stop it? As was already pointed out, this trait is desirable for some circumstances. I'm sure micro growers would appreciate being able to tell a male at the seedling stage too. A lot less wasted time for them. Genetic mutation gives us access to a whole other playing field in improving Cannabis and developing new and original strains. If the trait had no advantages, then by all means, breed it out. If it does though, then allow the rest of the growing community the oppurtunity to take advantage of those genes if they so choose.
