Prior to starting my first grow I made the mistake of informing my cousin that I was growing by asking him if he knew of anyone who would be willing to part with some clones. This was before I was aware of online seed banks. He failed to find any, but was still aware of my plans when I received my seeds from SB. Months go by, I harvest my plants, etc. All is well until one morning I get a call saying that he overdosed on methadone the night before and is in a coma at the hospital. Big surprise to me. Days go by and he slowly comes out of it, but in the meantime family and friends are in the room interrogating him about his drug use and such while he's still just totally out of his mind. Somewhere along the way he ends up telling them all about me growing, which led to me being verbally assaulted by the whole lot of them and lectured about how evil marijuana is. Needless to say I went home ASAP and cleaned up the house. Things could have been much worse, though, I could be in jail. Now I've got my whole family thinking I'm some kind of drug addict, can't trust people I've known my whole life, and don't feel safe growing anymore. I'm moving far away in about a year, so it will wait until then.

Sooner or later people figure it out... so its not jsut telling them, its smoking with them as well.

The ultimate lesson is choose your friends and choose not to be friends with some poeple.

Yes...I also am baffled, when I read about ppl not telling anybody else...I think, how is this possible?? Don't they have family, or friends??
I mean, it would be an impossibility for me to hide my plants, where I live--
This will be my 3rd year growing outdoors at my house...and I have not had any probs-- Granted, I feel a li'l nervous the last few weeks of flower...but I have to have trust in the ppl around me...or they are not around me--

its sad but thats how it happens. i had the wifes aunt staying with us she never seen 1 mj plant but when i had to ask her to leave with written notice my stash was in mason jars in hayloft.

she did wait a few days after she got her last box she called the sherrif and told him i grew weed in my shed.. i have her phone records to prove it

I'd have to say that rule #1 is in place for a reason. When i first started growing I thought these were friends, they wouldnt tell ANYONE. All of a sudden I was getting calls from people I went to highschool with asking for weed who I havent talked to in 10+ years. These friends wanted to feel important to these other people when they would see them at the bars and would spill the beans on me. They would burn a couple with these other people when they left the bar and when asked where they could score some of this good weed they would tell them to call me after every step I took to make these grows secure as possible. Pick your friends wisely because its very hard for me to sleep at night right now and noone knows I still grow because I ditched these losers as friends. There smoking the beany, pressed, mexican weed for $125 an oz while i'm burning down these nice nuggets of premium organic nugs for a few dollars an oz.

As usual, Verite makes a good point.

If you can tell someone that cannabis is evil and should be illegal and you're sitting in a hospital because one of your relatives has overdosed on methadone, a legal and very addictive drug, you're missing something somewhere on the assembly line. We'll never see the deaths/overdoses of cannabis ever reach the number of deaths and addictions that legal narcotics claim every year. Unless, I don't know, the planet gets bombarded by marijuana meteorites or something....something has to change. So many out there that are uneducated about the subject matter.

Yep, ignorance breeds hate. Good point echoes. My mom was worried that my little sister was smoking pot on occasion. But for some reason, the booze doesn't bother her as much. And she's a nurse! She should know better - her dad was an alchy, my dad is an alchy and her 2nd hubby, my sister's dad, is an alchy. He's in recovery though, now he just smokes pot.

He he he... We can convince a few! Especially when their doctor tells them that if they take one more drink they'll most likely die. They need that buzz and the doc says pots ok for the old wrinkled liver.

Yea, you completly correct. I took 4 Zanax and drank 1/2 of E and J last night. LOL. I think I was responding to something in my life as well...
It's funny what that shit does to you (zanax). Because I'm reading what you wrote and we believe in the same type of life phylosophy.
