Leaf tips flourescent green??

Hey IC. My plants are 4 weeks into veg. and looking pretty healthy overall. I am growing in FF OF and feed them 1/4 strength FF Grow Big every watering which is about once a week(2gallon buckets). The new growth on some of the plants contains leaf tips that almost look like someone took a highlighter to them and the leaf itself is a light green. What is the problem? I was thinking a Mag. deficiency from the reading I have done. What do you think? Thanks

Hey what's up, i'm new to this but i have some of the same problem.......i too read up on it alot, and it just might be the mag. def.- i also use ff big bloom, ej-grow and bloom, i thought that i might have been giveing them a lil' to much nutes so i'm giving them straight water just about every other feeding....they are only a week in 12/12...........peace hope that helped some

Hey, I think I may be undernuting at 1/4 strength. I gave them 1/2 strength earlier and the new growth colors seem uniform and nice and green. From the pics I have seen, it doesn't look like nute burn at all and with organic nutes and the little dosage I am giving them, I doubt it. Thanks for the response mosess. Are you using nutes at full strength, more, less? Do you use ph adjusted water? I have been using tap water that sits out for a few days and it has been working the whole time so I don't think its that. I have also read about nute lockout but need to read more about it to know if this is the problem. This is my first grow so I bug out about everything, it may be minor or temporary, but I want to stop anything before it becomes major. The plants look very healthy overall besides this. Peace

whats your light set up???

I've seen plants turn a light green midway into Veg....because they weren't getting enough light to fully support the new growth

Right now i'm giveing them regular strength, man being a first time grower is more challenging than i might have thought, but it is cool-i like growing these baby's....................i also heard that mollasess helps with up take of nutes, because it is an chealting agent.....hey i almost sound like a pro..LOL :biglaugh:

heres a copy of the Fox Farm chart. Note the Grow Big is 6-4-4. Some of thier Grow Big was sold as 12-7-7. Dont be afriad to use the Fox Nutes as per the Chart. I never have experianced a Nute def. with thier products. If anything, I experianced an over nute when I failed to notice a new bottle of Grow Big as 12-7-7. I just used half the dose

Thanks everyone,

Smoke-I can give them epson salt every feeding?

Mad- I am using 1000w hps on them about 2 feet from tops, trying not to stress em with them closer.

Closet-So I can give them the full 2 tsp every watering without problems, or should I slowly increase to it? I went from 1/4 strengh to 1/2 so far.

Your 2 gal pots will probalbly result in water every 4-5 days. If you are already at 1/2 go to full. Mind your week count as it relates to the # of waterings to time your back off of the GB to the the Big Bloom. I wouldn't bother with any other bloom products until you see how just ferts work. Give yourself time at the end of 12/12 to use all your residual ferts from soil. I only use ph adjusted water the last 2/3 waterings b4 hvst. Proper fert use will avoid the need for "flushing". ( you never see outdoor grows or real farms flush). Takes a few grows to fine tune your ferts. take your time, avoid "Cannabis Voodoo".
Your experiencing an overall fert def which will resolve as you up your ferts. You have lots of weeks ahead for your plants to pick up and take off. I usually stay with the GB 14-16 days into 12/12 to allow for the growth spurt. Then start with BB as the flowers develop. And wait till they sexually mature b4 going to 12/12.

They say you can use epsom salts in all watering. However I think I would try 1/2 tablespoon per gallon, over a longer period. Most Mg def clear up pretty fast.-usdi Agaluga

Closet-In my attempt to not overfert(one of biggest newbie mistakes I see on here) I think I have been depriving them of some happiness. Just upping to 1/2 strength is making a huge difference. I am going for full strength next watering. When I start the Big Bloom can I go full strength from start or should I start 1/4 strength again and work up? LOL And as far as waiting for them to sexually mature before going 12/12, I am currently waiting for the bunch to catch up and it is killing me. Two sativas showing preflowers are at about 20 inches and ready to go, while the other six are still not alternating nodes and at about 13 inches. These sativas are quickly growing up to the glass and are going to need to be tied down. Can I tie them down when they get too high or do I need to do it BEFORE they get up there?

Smoke-I might see if this clears up with nutes before I hit em with the epson. I am going to pick some up today, just in case.

Thanks all! Peace and keep growin!

You can tie them down NOW for sure. Get main top bent over until it's below the lower nodes. You can start tying once they've hit the 4th or 5th node. They will bush nicely.

As far as going to full strength nutes, I would ramp up more slowly. Stay with half strength nutes for the next couple feedings, then go 3/4 strength. Especially with sativa dominant strains, you can easily burn them. Sativas tend to be more nute sensitive. Just watch for tip burn closely and then back off the strength about 20-25% and you should be okay.

Good idea.It will be clearer in the long run to try one first and then if no change try the other. If it turns out to fert problems,,youll definitely want to take care of that first.Mg def isnt immediately fatal. You should have time.-usdi Agaluga

The size of your plants says "Feed Me", the Big Bloom will take the place of the GB during flwr and is organic so will have a slower realease of N during this time, By all means use the Grow big, Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom as listed. many people seem to lose track of the number of watering/weeks to go. If you wait a cpl of waterings, you've waiting a cpl of weeks into grow time. you may want to go half then full alternation since you will be watering every 4-5 days. But i wouldn't worry about overferting if you stay with the list. I used to use 3 gal pots, now use 2 gals also. 2 gal of soil will be depleted in no time. I consider it the same as a hydro grow or soiless after a few weeks. Hydro/soiless growers don't use half ferts do they?
