Leaf shedding

Hello

This happens to me alot lately..

I have my plants in veg, they are fine, healthy, beautiful even when they get root bound..which happens sometimes if I am out of space or get too busy with stuff..but evne root bound ones look great.

Usually transplant when roots peek out of bottom holes.

Okay I put them into flower.

Within a few weeks a major amount of the bottom leaves just drop off.

Some yellow a bit some are light green some even look normal.

The top and mid leaves look perfect, stem perfect, when roots are looked at, perfect, growing fine not slow, not too fast. all looks okay but leaves drop to about mid level and then the tops and mid go fine thru flower, just the bottom
1/4 to 1/3 of plant leaf drop.

I have a 400 watt hps veg light

a 600 watt flower light

in foxfarm Ocean forest with 30 % perlite ,feed about every fourth water ,half strength tiger bloom, water when soil is pretty dry and pot is getting light, but not totally dry.

Ph is 6-6.8

I have had to spray for mites this time and know Neem and Isotox has cuased some leaf drop..at least apparently..when I have sprayed a few days afterward I see leaf drop, especially with neem if I use recommended rate, when I use less its okay.

Isotox seems to actually cause less leaf drop.

I have not observed this strain w/o spraying, except in veg wher I have sprayed less.

But I have had, and seen others have plants that seem to keep all their leaves ?

What am I doing wrong THIS time?!

Only thing I can think of is maybe neem or isotox burn?
The reccommended neem dosage is usally too much I thought.

What are your temps/humidity?

ITS YOU!!
Hello

My temperatures remain at 75-80 without exceeding transient spikes of 84 degrees fahrenheit.

I have no humidity testing device atm. It died and am penniless..seriously.
But air feels about right for past blooms, slight moisture with no condensation.

Ventillation of fresh outside air is slightly down as am using a smaller temporary fan, but is good as air in room has lots of access to outside air, this cabinet is open during lights on for maintenance and only closed at lights off, without light leaks.

The problem looks like phosphorus or nitrogen but I am hesitant to add as soil has good amount and FF Tiger Bloom has some too.

I am glad its you...how are you my friend?

Hello

Im good, just been relaxing lately.

Getting ready for this seasons outdoor... seedlings started in september, grown and flowered under 2kw, then revegging for planting in mid march.
Should be a fun one. :joint:

Do you have any pictures?

Isn't neem organic and non-toxic to Mj? Isn't it normal for bottom leaves to fall off? Some strains more than others. I have a Cali-O that will drop none. Also, a MasterKush that will lose bottom 1/3. When the light does not penetrate to the bottom leaves, the plant uses up the stored energy in those leaves, then sheds them because they are then useless. If they are not solar panels, then they are food.

You stated that your veg light is HPS. Is your flowering light also HPS?

Peace

Greetings:

In answer to your question about HPS:

Yes I only use HPS as these lights were gifted to me. I am ,well, very poor.

I am disabled and so depend on very little money .

I have read and seen its okay to use HPS, but that Metal Halide is better for vegetative growth.

I was thinking that it might be normal for at least some strains to drop the leaves that are not getting enough light in flower also, but was not sure, I am glad you have seen it also.

But I felt I should ask for I do not know all their is to know about growing things [sometimes I think I do because I have grown things all my life]
:) :)

Thanks for answering.

Any more thoughts? Or do you think:problem solved?

The only way to be sure, is to grow a different strain or two, under the exact same conditions. I've seen certain sativas, lose almost all of their leaves in flower, and still give very impressive yields. If you had pics of the affected plant, it would be helpful.

Yes I have noted Sativa leaf dropping also!

I do not have a camera ATM,my gallery pics are from a borrowed cam from around New Year.

Strains are: Sweet Tooth 1.1 and some Bogglegum experimentals [ some I am hoping are not hermie like others, long story.]

And a DP Blueberry.

The BB seems to not lose as many, but then again it has almost no branches.

So that would follow.

Maybe it is light penetration and a little phosphorus and N, I bumped it up a notch tonight to see if anything changes.

something Good I mean.

HAH!
