Leaf Curling ???????

I’m having a few problems at moment. First I didn’t turn on extractor fan, as I didn’t think it necessary straight away and for got the put in digital thermometer. When I did I think I found out what was wrong, the humidity was in high 60’s for the last week. I noticed the leafs curling in a bit and on one plant its very noticeable as you can see from pic’s. My PH 5.9/6.3 no higher and nutes strength are fine. Now I have extractor fan running my humidity is sitting at about 46 % and temp’s are in mid 60’s

What do you think ,could it be humidity that has done that to the leafs ? ?

that could either be caused by magniseum deficiency, high heat, when humidity is high the leaves will curl under not over. How high is your ppms? TO high of certain kind of nutrient can cause this to happen too...... what all nutrients are you using?

ANother thing, how close are your lights? and what are your grow room temps lights on and off? 60 is to low! Needs to be in the range of 75 to 80.

Are you checking your ppms and ph often?

I'm using Home & Garden nutes (Dutch) and I’ve used them before with this strain with great results so don’t think its the nute's.

Heat ... well i'm not sure, I bought a new digital thermometer and if I go by that it says mid 70’s, and humidity is about 50%

Lights, I’m using Envirolites to veg as i’m waiting on 600w digital hps light to arrive this week. As for how close 2 to 3 inches, but I’ve had them cm’s from them before with no ill effects. So don’t think its that. Seem to of affected both systems (NFT & F&D) but more so 1 plant in NFT. i have lights on 24/7 for moment, never done them any harm before !

PPM’S … well not sure about that, I use an EC meter and use the CF as my guide. My CF I keep between 10 & 12,

PH I keep between 5.8 & 6.3

I sprayed plants with formulaX deluted to recomended strenght for folier spraying ... wud tht have anything to do with it ?

Question … my tap water shows a CF of about 3.5(dead salts) so I half that to 1.7 or so and adding nutes to roughly 12, so really my CF is about 10 of nutes.

Am I right it what I’ve done?

Those are pretty exaggerated as far as the curling leaf edge go but Im not so sure how much of it your going to be able to 'get out' if its a genetic thingy. I get that alot in my c99 plants [ not so much in my c99 crosses.]

Its pretty evident that others get it too with c99.

.. ok I think I can stop .. there are plenty more examples of varying degrees if you search c99+pictures.

Leaf curling in one form or another to me has usually meant the strain is sensitive to something in the ferts being a bit strong. I wonder if the people that get less curl arent tailoring their ferts?

well i dont know! I was thinking if i mixed up grow and flower nutes, bottle is same, i really dont know.

im going to empty both system and start with fresh nute , even going to use new nutes never opened , see if tht helps, because they seem to be getting worse at moment.

ive gotten that leaf curling quite a few times because of lack of humidity or just heat. hope u find out what the cause is.

Well I spent an hour and a half changing the reservoirs last night, don’t know if it will help or not. I think there is a slight possibility that I used flowering nutes instead of grow, but I’m not sure I’m clutching at straws. Would that do them any harm; anyway I have nutes at a CF of 11.5 (ppms 800 I think) PH 5.9, temps mid 70’s humidity about 50%. Can only hope for the best, I had a look this morning and at least they haven’t got any worse.

I'm starting to think it might of been PH drifting up too high , keeping my eye on the ph anyway .

Im pretty sure that with any kind of infection your res's get, the PH will rise rapidly. The high PH might be locking out the magnesium and causing your plants to do that.

My first venture into 'dro got me a couple plants that looked like that till I could get clones into soil, then promptly dropped the dro till I get a better handle on sanitation.

Looking at the other plants of FS c99, it could be a genetic defect causing the water vacuoles(sp?) in the center leaf mass to inflate larger than the frame of the leaf.
