leaf curl question ......

Closet Trics

New member
hey folks, got a simple question for whomever may take .........

is the PH too low or too high if your leaves are curly upward ???

i use the ph concentrated solution take a sample of my nutes then put 2 drops in the little vial to see what the color is ..... i keep mine in the yellowish to orange range and grow in 2 gal pots with rockwool cubes ..... all plants are doing fine using this method except one which is an unknown bagseed out of a bag of fire ...

so any help ?

thanks

hey unicorn thanks for your input ...

1.my PH ranges from about 5.5-6.3 according to the color ....

2. i didn;t know a MG deficiency would make the leaves curl ???....

3. i've never got a ph meter because the method i do now works just fine for me until this plant wanted to curl its leaves .....

i'de rather not post pics as of now ...... but its just the outside of the leafs edges that are comming upward ..... i mean its not a huge deal or anything i just wanted to ask the "experts" what might be wrong so maybe i can fix it .... if i can't no loss i will just have curly leaves (its just bagseed) ...

does that help a lil more ???

thanks

Actually rather than MG which it could be, I would think Potassium is the prob... if they are "curlying up" but not dead... then they are "praying for potassium" if on the other hand the tips are curled up and dead... then I would concur that mg. or cal. could be your problem.... pix would be helpful.

P.S. 5.5-6.0 is too low for anything but hydro.... dirt should not be below 6 and 6.5 is even better.

Leaf margins curling up is usually a result of heat stress, nute burn, low RH, excessive ventilation or poor root health IME...PH doesn't usually show as leaf curl - it starts with necrotic white spots then progresses to nute lockouts...

hey MTF thanks for the info .....

i think you hit the nail on the head ....

1. heat stress ...... they have been in 88 degree heat for the last 6 days under 2, 400 watters, but i did a little modification and got the temps down to about 81 using a 4 in vortex and central AC

2 nute burn .... i don't think i have burned them because usually when u burn plants you can pinch the burned part and the leaf will crumble .... so i don't think its that.. or am i wrong?? but i do have a few brown spots that are starting to show up on the leaves, so i am just using plain water until they stop showing up ....

3.low RH is a prob. also .....my RH averages about 32% when lights on and about 40% lights off

so maybe all these dif factors attribute to the leaf curl .... or maybe it is just a sensitive strain because none of the others are doing this ....

anyways thanks for all the help people .... maybe it will stop ...
