Hey 215, thanks man, yeah I always screen out all the small stuff and keep it for my own smoke, the bigger stuff gets packed up (overweight too) so everyone is happy.

Yeah thank god I have some good helpers, they are shorter than me so they make quick work of the backbreaking work. ;) When I said old FFOF I meant the plants had already been in it a month, so it was pretty well depleted by then. I don't reuse it, just goes into a raised bed outside for veggies. If you have old flowering soil I would think you could amend it and reuse it, but it would take some work. I'm lazy so I just buy new. ;)

Thanks for the kind words on the strains too, I got them both as select cuts from a friend of mine, I haven't seen them elsewhere but you never know!

Yeah I had similar problems, big nugs taking too long to dry, I put some outside in the heat to finish them up, oops too dry in 2 hrs! Good learning experience though, they have cured up fine once the moisture redistributed itself in the tubs. Whew, back to the day job!

How has the heat wave been treating you lazy? Almost time for a 5 ton split?

Hey Teeg, day temps are 72*F in the room, been in the low 80's in there with the lights on (at 50%) until temps stabilize a bit. Dimmable ballasts make all the difference in the world! :)

Yeah all my power is in for the AC's, I will probably do 2 X 2.5 tons for flower and one 2-ton for veg, should be about right. That way if one flower AC dies I can still run half the lights with the other AC, otherwise I'd have to shut down if one big AC took a shit. ;)

Nice! I remember you telling me to get 2 just in case one fails, what brand are you looking in to?

Just pulled the trigger for a 2.5 ton mr. slim cant wait.

You think (2) 2.5 ton can handle 16kw non air cooled? Is it because they are vertical the heat disipates faster? I know on the excel site it recommends 5 ton for 15kw and not sure if they are factoring in air cooled hoods.

Yep Mr Slims here too, they seem to be all the rage. I think since I'll have the room at 85 they won't do too badly, I will leave carbon filters and exhaust fans in place in case there's any overheating, they will suck it out if it goes over 90. Their calculations are for non AC hoods, usually you can figure 3-4K BTU for NON AC hoods, around 2K BTU per light if air cooled.

Well it's been an interesting week, the farm where my basement is has a pretty serious rat problem, and though they haven't touched the plants, they keep eating through my blumat drip lines. That hose is expensive!

I put out a few sticky traps last month and caught a couple, then I decided there were too many and I put out poison. Big mistake! Now I have smelly dead rats in the walls, though it's fading now, thank god. Pew! I bought a dozen more sticky traps and caught 3 rats in 2 days! Found out the farms animal feed is basically out in the open, so I'm getting them new containers for their critter feed so the rats won't have free food anymore. Should name my weed "Fat Rat Jackpot" and shit, lol.

Oh and my faucet broke last night, stupid thing was 4 months old. Can't make water until I replace the faucet, again! Get this, I topped all the barrels off last night using up the veg barrel, since all was still wet in veg. Today some of the barrels are at 50%! That's 20-25g in water in 16 hours, for ~25 plants. True they are all 5 feet tall now, but DAMN! That's over 1g per day per plant!

Oh here's some new pics:

Jackpots at about 5.5 weeks flower, getting close!

Purple Mr Nice in the front half of this row, space bombs towards the back.

The "new" half of the garden, ALL Jackpot!

One big-ass Blue Dragon mom I flipped:

The "other" row of new Jackpots, so big!

So frakking lovely! I call this my day-dream thread.

Just stellar.

Quick question Lazy, mind sharing the shop where you get your blumat hose and parts (especially if they do mailorder).

The only shop I could find that sells them frakked me over by not being able to follow instructions. It's a long story, but my shipment is gone, and I do NOT want to order from them again, but I'm in desperate need of several different parts and pieces.

Thanks BBB, you're very kind! I sent you a PM with the shop name, it's still tricky through any shop because most of them aren't very familiar with this system. Knowing the part numbers you need helps. Tradewinds Distributing out of Sacramento would be a good place to call and see who their vendors are too, they sell Blumat stuff.

just got a blumat maxi, so sick. i jsut got 1 of them as i took my grow down a month ago to help with the harvest down south, but i wanted to show the farmers this option. im going to be using these for the rest of my life. thanks man

Thanks very much you guys!

ILTW, good for you! I liked that design of the Maxis for the bigger pots, good job! I run the dripper hose out of the blumat, all the way across the pot so it waters more evenly. Seems to help eliminate dry spots. Have fun, and remember no organic nutes through those lines!

Rat problem huh? I say go down to the ASPCA and find two good hunting cats, feed them right and pet them often and you will zero rats ;)

lol, I just fixed their goat feed so its inaccessible to the rats, and bought more sticky traps. Cats would get eaten by the two pitbulls.

Just got a genetics correction on Wow, it's actually Raspberry Kush X White Widow. Been a big hit with my patients, they are already asking for more!

Interesting point: If you came across weed that was labeled: "Lazyman's Grape Stomper" would you be inclined to lean that direction, or would you think that "man what if the feds wanted to track that cat down, find out where this came from and nail his ass?" lol

I'm just saying that cuz I'm considering labeling my herb, I'm already labeling my medibles (not sure if I should share the name here) but I would like to build a brand name folks can recognize.

Getting people to leave my stickers on their packages would be another issue entirely, I think each zip would have to be labeled and then sold in 16-packs, each individually labeled and marked with strain info, indoor, soil etc.

What say u IC?

(ooh look at that, 8 posts to get to 4000!)

I know many people, including myself, have considered this. It would be awesome, of course, but I can imagine the moment where I would regret it... too clearly. It's a minor novelty, that I would say is not worth the risk. And if you do decide to do it, don't post the name on IC. You never know when certain policies will suddenly change, and drastically effect your life.

P.S. - What do you think of using blumat maxi's with coco, vertically?

Yeah that's always been in the back of my head, but with all the competition I'm just trying to find a way to differentiate my product from the masses.

I'm considering packaging flavored joints, that have been dosed with JWH-018 and/or ISO oil, and one of dozens of different flavors that are commercially available as smoke flavorings. Or even blunts would be sellable, I've seen oil-laced joints sell for $16 each in a club, and they were NOT fatties! lol

I guess its easier to do branding if youre a club or a street-level dealer, working directly with the end users of the product.

Hmm blumats in vert, the only catch is the res must be higher than the top blumat/pot. If you can do that it would work great!

how far are the bulbs apart?

The bulbs are all 4' apart, rows are on 4' centers (except for the two aisles.) The bulbs are all hung from aircraft cables strung all the way across the room so they can be slid around as needed.

can you take a picture one day so i can see how you have the bulbs on aircraft cables? nice log by the way, ive been reading for quite some time. just finished reading my 2nd time through. working on a bare bulb house right now. just about to cut down my 3k coco octagon in 9 days.

can you also explain why the bulbs are so high? it seems as if the middle of the bulb is top the top of the colas. do the colas not get as much light when the light is more in the middle of the trees? When the bulb is hung vertically there is light going up and down out of the side of the bulb, and not just across the room. theres more spread.
