a few sandpaper scratches on the outside of the seed. float in a warm up of water until it sinks, take out after 6-8 hours underwater and put in wet paper towel in a plastic bag in warm/dark area. If you dont see a taproot after 4 days, its not germinating.

more specifically a germicidal soak and something to help boost seeds that tail and fizzle out

there are some older methods to accomplish the above was wondering if there were any newer techs

I do recall growers speaking about gibberellic acid for fruit set and germination.

Lots of success from the lab tests which were carried out on very old seeds, though i am sure you are well aware of this. The thought entered my head when i read the title. There is lots of topics out there on it.

Anything special your trying to crack?

Good luck with it....

I wish you the best....

Just went over quite a old thread on another forum, one botanist used gibberellic acid when successfully germinating 2000 year old seeds from a extinct plant (2)" it seems quite the norm across all the canna sites as well for very old seeds.

Honestly, I have pretty good luck just letting them soak in a cup of warm water over night with a drop of super thrive mixed in. Has not failed me yet unless I just had some shitty seeds on my hands.

In my searches throught the site, here's a few things I found. Hope they help ya. Some people suggest a soak in Rapid Start, or any other root enhancer, that contains indole-3-butyric acid. Gibberlylic acid has been mentioned, seems to be hit or miss. Also Ethylene has been suggested as well.
Good luck. Let us know what you try, and how it works. I'm sub'd.
