What's new

Large plant, small greenhouse.

So as the title suggests, I have a plant, in the ground, in a greenhouse and if it continues to veg at the present rate by the time it flowers it will be too big for the allotted space. I could light dep the whole GH but I have other plants in there that aren't as vigorous and I would prefer they go the distance. I only do two harvests per year, early summer and mid autumn, and that is all my smoke for the year, so there is a lot at stake here. :)

I've been thinking of trellising it somehow, or cutting back on nutes to slow her down, I don't want to top it much more because it is already encroaching on the plants on either side of it. I have a fair amount of height to play with but the roof is hoop style so it isn't a uniform height if that makes sense.

I'm looking for suggestions, or anyone who has encountered this "problem" and dealt with it. I can provide photos tomorrow if that would help anyone visualize. I have a few months before it requires a solution so I am not in a rush to figure this out, I'd just like to have a plan in place. Thanks in advance. :thank you:

I don't think you're going to do it any favor by cutting back on food. If you can't move the other ones outside of the greenhouse and start depping it then unfortunately I think you are going to really hack at that plant on the top and sides to effectively reduce the overall volume of the plant if that makes sense. It will stunt it but it will overcome the stress and continue on to flower fine. You could even hand out cuttings to friends or root them and sell clones I guess. :dunno:

What I would do but this is just me is to extend, widen and increase the height of your small green house. Light deping green houses is a great way to keep them in perfect flowering times and better overall temps.

If you can't extend or widen the green house I'd atleast increase the height which isn't that hard even if you're running a lean too. Best of luck to you man.

Greenhouse keeps the RH up. remove the greenhousewhen you are flowering because you then need lower RH. If you find a way to keep rain away from your buds this would make you have less chance of bud rot. Outdoor you always have a big chance of bud rot.

Pinch her. That way you'll slow her down significantly.
You can also try with a lot of defoliation so she'll have to build up some food before proceeding with growth :) you can play around with those two combinations a lot ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Dr. King; next year, I'm going to at least double the size of the GH. Simply do not have the resources this year but you are right, that would be the ideal solution.

HushemFlupskluk; where I live it is a challenge to keep the rh high enough. High mountain desert man, bud rot happens but it is rare and mostly strain dependant. Often times I leave a bucket of water under my fan to up the RH even while flowering. Sweat evaporates from the pores here.

who dat is; I wondered if cutting back food in veg would inhibit vigorous growth in flower, sounds like that is what you are getting at. Thanks for steering me away from that mistake.

_tessarecting & Bleiweis; I believe this is what I need to do. In three weeks I harvest the plant across from her so I guess I'll leave that space empty and train her in that direction.

Thanks again!
