large dehumidifier help please

I am looking at getting a large dehu asap......
what size to get?
what brand? Quest- Sante Fe
hopefully cost will be under 2500. but can spend more if needed

room is 15 x 23 x 8 sealed.
currently split into two rooms- 9x15 and 12x15.
soon to be one room with the purchase of a new dehu that is strong enough to control the area of both rooms.

auto water 1x per day, 10% runoff
2 ton mitzubishi dual zone ductless mini split one head for each room.

12x15 room
8 x 600w gavidas
environmental controller with fuzzy logic for co2
24 x 5 gal pots with coco/hydroton mix
full scrog- 10x13 canopy
DTW with raised floor, all drain off is automatically removed from the room.
2 x 70 pint ideal air dehus.....
one runs 24/7 and heat is ducted out of the room- I know it is the dry air. but it is sooooo hot. ill pay for the extra co2 in order to run another light. correct me if u think im wrong.
one is only on at night. dry air stays in the room
all dehu water is collected and reused

due to the heat these put out, I can only run 6 gavidas, mayb 7 if im lucky.
rh at night never gets below 50%......... ususally about 55% rh meh meh meh
ideal air sux

9x15 room
12 x 5gal pots, coco/hydroton mix
all scrog- full canopy 8x13
6x air cooled 1ks
8in blockbusters
2 rows of 3 1ks, with 2 8in max fans for each row
environmental controller with fuzzy logic for co2
raised floor, dtw, all runoff automatically removed from room
never had a temp problem at all all
ideal air 30pint dehu - ususally about 55-62%rh at night
because I don't want to spend more on another piece of shhhhh equipment that doesn't perform well.
( the 70 pint ideal air works fine for this room, it is just needed more in the other room at this point)

my goal is to buy one perfect dehu to control the rh in a 25x15x8 room with aprox 30-45 5 gal pots, 8 600w gavidas (more if I can hahaha) and 6 air cooled 1ks.

a dedicated 20 amp is fine.

I know ideal air sux!
these large units use the same energy as the smaller ideal air hahaha

how much heat do these large units put out when operating?
please help with ?s I haven't thought of yet.

I just don't want to get one that is too small

thanx fo da help

if you can afford it go with the sante fe,
heard nothing but good on em.

all dehuey's put out a fair amount of heat,
after all they are basically an AC.
since they usually run after lites out(like mine) the heat isn't an issue
a mini split can't handle , in fact it will cycle the ac on and take more water out of the air

go to any site selling them and get the spec list for info

fwiw i run 6000w in a 14 x 20 area and use 2 50pt friedrichs for $500 and they do
the trick just fine

quest 155 for $2000 looks like the best bet.
quest 205 is what I want, but its $3000

1000 for an extra 50 pint seems a bit pricy, or am I missing something?
I hate being cheap..... but I would also hate to spend 1000 extra dollars if a 155 does the job.
or just add a 30 or 70 pint if needed? way cheaper.....

you never want to fuck yourself with a too small dehuey. . if you aren't worried about amps i would get the quest dual 205.. I have multiple of every size quest, they are the bomb.. also depends what state you are in and humidity there.. my friends in a more humid state always have to buy bigger ones for the same amount of lights out here

How much mileage are you guys getting with the Santa Fes'/Quests'? Kinda in the same situation as the OP. I usually get 2+ years usage before they stop working for one reason or another from Lowes/HD purchased dehuey's. Santa Fe/Quest are damn pricy...

The big LGR dehumidifiers are near bulletproof, the only issues that Ive ever heard of were condensate pump related
Even if there is a problem parts are easily available and they are worth repairing
Clean used ones can be a good value FWIW

I second the Drieaz LGR's. Been running one in my new room for 3 or 4 months now with zero issues and I bought it used with 4500 hours. I cleaned it up, replaced the filter and good to go. It cost me around 600.

Currently I have a Frigidaire FAD504DWD Energy Star 50-pint Dehumidifier running on continuous mode 24/7 in my 10' x 12' Flower room. RH ranges from 35-55, but i would like to keep it even lower esp. in late flower. Does the Sante Fe pull out moisture a lot faster? For the money should i just grab another Frigidaire or just upgrade to the Sante Fe?

you should upgrade imo. you will save way more money in the long run. my quest uses about the same as a 50 pint. max 8 amps if I remember right. I love my quests, not a single problem so far

A nighttime humidity of 55% sounds pretty perfect to me

Dehu's are similar to a/c's. The a/c must be able to remove more heat than the room generates or it just runs all the time and never reaches your desired setpoint temperature. With dehu's, they must be capable of removing more water than is being used in the room each day or you will not reach your relative humidity setpoint. Ventilation will either increase or decrease relative humidity in the room, depending on outdoor conditions.

Be very cautious of dehu ratings. Moisture removal rates decrease significantly in cooler, dry rooms.

I ha e santa Fe max dry dual xt, cost about 2300, removes a genuine 150 pints per day or so, is quiet and uses little power. Had it for about 5 years. Filters are cheap, replace them often. Did have it stop working once, a wire inside burned off the end of its spade Co nector. Replaced the wire and it's been working fine for years since.

Your failing dehumidifiers and Air conditioners are likely experiencing a failing run capacitor. Most of these units use a dual cap unit that provides a little extra juice to get the compressor started as well as the fan motor. It's an easy fix and quite easy to diagnose. The capacitor typically looks like a small canister. if it is bulging or looks like it has swollen up, then that is likely your problem.

ran the big Dry-ez as well (bigblue one with wheels) and it did a 18x32 pretty well with the AC. lasted well so far i think 4000+ hrs over 5 years.

the price jump is big but i think the commercial ones last better, imo
