LA area medical test grow

hello everybody- long time reader and first time poster here.

just finished up a test run on some clones i picked up from LA area dispenceries and thought id share the results along with some pics.

for about a month i shopped around and i ended up with 5 clones: one with a blue label on the rockwool cube which read "bubba kush", one with a red label that read "sour diesel", a $40 clone from a place in malibu called SFV OG Kush aka butter kush aka 818 kush, a Matanuska Tundra clone and supposed Purple Kush from a spot in Van Nuys that turned out to be Grape Ape.

All were grown under a 400w 58k lumen grolux hps flanked by two 40w cfls. the medium was about 65% fox farms ocean forrest and the rest coir and perlite. pure blend pro and pk 13-14 were used among other nutes.

all of them turned out to be top notch strains with the sdeez and og kush being a cut above. heres a brief breakdown of each:

sfv og kush: the best strain ive had the pleasure of working with. the plants structure is sativa dom with super dense lemon fuel nugs covered in resin and the typical kush pungency. i let her go 68 days

sour diesel: this is obviously not the ECSD clone but still bomb. the overall plant structure is about 50/50 sat/i but this one likes to grow one or two fat kolas. the buds are very loose and airy but are covered in resin. def sour fuel odor on her too. 11 weeks

note: both these two grow almost exactly the same in veg- and after seeing alot of pics of chemdog, u can tell both these share alot of the same genes.

matanuska tundra: a real solid plant. this one liked to grow multiple branches and produced super dense nugs covered in resin. this plant reeked of a sour lemon / key lime pie. kinda cheesy and citrusy. however the taste was somewhat generic. 58 days

bubba kush: def not the real deal pre 98 cut, but still good. this girl was super short and stocky and grew round ping-pong ball shaped nugs. alot of purple with the coffee smell- i bet the black bubba. 63 days

grape ape: this was sold to me as a purple kush clone. it was not even close to that, but did produce some super frosty grape smelling purple nugs. 66 days

nice looking plants u got there highbrid. I too am growing some ogkush from a dispensary in hollywood. How did ur ogkush come out after 68 days? Do they taste kushy? cant wait till mines are done. I have em planned for chop at 56 days (8weeks) but seeing as u let urs go for 68 days, i may do the same.

the kush turned out nice. it could have been done at about 60 days but i like to let em go the extra mile. the sfv cut has a real strong lemon fuel taste with the normal kush skunkiness. one bong rip will put most people down.

ill be posting the second round of pics later today.

hello- thanks for nice words

the grape ape was good- i wish it was real purple kush tho.

ive seen alot of pics of plants labeled pre 98 bk that look different than mine- they had smaller tighter buds and stretched more.

I was gonna say....sure looks like the real Bubba that we got, huh brutha?

hybrid1, nice set of testers ya got there! They never had that kind of stock of clones when I used to get my meds at the dispensaries, but that was a couple years back. Good job!

Peace KBB

Very nice man, i wish i lived in cali for the genetics alone. Which would you say is the best yielder? It looks like the grape ape is the worst yielder of the bunch. Peace.

thanks again for the kind words my fellow botanists.

as far as the bubba- I was slightly dissapointed in the lack of smell- it had the typical coffee/earthy/spicy smell but was very weak. it didnt have the kush skunkiness that I expected and it wasn't on par potency wise with the sfv og. thats why i didnt think it was the real deal. plus it didnt clone anyway so i dont have it anymore.

toker- the grape ape was a small plant- basically a topped clone- so it didnt yeild as much. overall, they are all moderate yeilders. the sd yeilded some fat ass kolas but the buds were very airy.
