Come as You Are
Cobain's mother is putting the 1.5-story Aberdeen bungalow on the market this week, the same month as the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's final studio album, "In Utero."

The childhood home of Kurt Cobain, the late frontman of Nirvana, in Aberdeen, Wash., two hours southwest of Seattle. The home, last assessed at less than $67,000, is being listed for $500,000, but the family would also be happy entering into a partnership with anyone who wants to turn it into a museum. Here, the outside view of Kurt Cobain's childhood home.

Thanks for sharing.

That said I wouldn't want to live there.

They should either destroy it or make a museum. Destroying it would be a waste of course.

There's something about living in a home of a kid who was really messed up and committed suicide. Something in the air you know.
Maybe it was not his family life that made him the way he was, maybe it was the drugs, society, fame.

Same as for their music. I know at the time the music touched a lot of people. I read that for a lot of kids, teenagers and even adults, it was something they could relate to in a time where there was not a lot of things that could express such feeling. The depressive/angry tone of the music, and thinking about the guy blowing his brains out doesn't make me feel good, so I don't listen to it much. I have listened to a couple of tunes. Some are not that bad, but almost all of them have a depressive or angry feel.

No offense to any fans, I respect the guy and a lot of things he said and said he believed in. I still think it is amazing music. The fact that it touched so many people and left such a mark is incredible imo.

I went through that town, Aberdeen, Washington, a couple of months ago and it was very disturbing. A lot of very sad looking people walking the streets and alleys. We were going to Pacific Beach and it was starting to get dark, so we were not sure we had time to get a campsite and put up a tent so we considered getting a motel that allows dogs in Aberdeen. As we are pulling into one place we see an Asian woman running off hookers from the hotel, we went to another and it looked like the roof of the hotel was caving in. The whole town is in shambles and a lot of very empty souls are walking the streets in groups of two or more. If I ever go that route again we will not even consider staying there.

We made it to the Pacific beach that night and got the tent up just in time before dark.

It's the celebrity connection premium.
I have no doubt it will sell for the money they want. Some pathetic superfan out there who is now in his late 30s and is Mr Moneybags will buy it to "get closer to Kurdt...maaaan"

I'm a big Nirvana fan, but there is NFW i would buy that. If it is so far out of market value, they are clearly aiming it at fans, believing they will pay through the nose.

I wish I still had my Nirvana "Vestibule"
(Fudge Packin,
Crack Smokin
Satan worshippin
Motherfucker)
T-shirt. I've seen them (original ones) sell for £100+. Some of the mad times that T-shirt saw, I'd have it bronzed as a monument to my youth.

I can't believe it's nearly 20 years since kurt redecorated his greenhouse with his brains.

^(up a few). Yea Agree this should be made into a Museum
Doing so would bring lots of money to the Area

Understand being a wooden house that Overcast sky (rain!) is not Regular? Or for Different Reasons? Sure Aberdeen Seattle isn't that Bright Tho !?

gave Kurt a bunch of 'Conan El Barbaro' acid back in July of 89. He handled it well, but didn't play his guitar that night...
Bet there wasn't 50 people at the show.

Definitely a misunderstood soul. :(
