Kreat Grow Diary

Well I'm carrying this over from another forum since I wasn't getting much feedback from it and hopefully can get some more imput here.

This was my grow setup with the cups and my lights for the grow area. I have 4 40watts lamps, 2 6500k and 2 4100k which are mixed to get a better spectrum. I have 10 seeds from an outdoor mix and 3 from Asia Girl (By Reeferman) The outdoor mix is from Canadian company from Hemp Depot, while the Asia Girl is from Reeferman.

We'll Start with the outdoor mix. I placed all ten into cups and they took about 1 week to sprout. Out of 10 only 3 sprouted so far (I started on May 9 05) I checked the other seeds and the shell seems to be to firm for the seeds to break through so i'm doing an experiment with them, I beleive ill get about a 70% germ once all is done.

The Asia Girls sprouted within about 48 hours and are looking healthy. I plan on growing these indoors until they are healthy enough to be brought outdoors.

My plan on sexing them is to take clones from all the plants and clone them to find out their sex. Get rid of all the males and grow out some of the females just for some small bud. Once I see which plants are growing best ill take more clones.

I'm using Promix BX along with peat pods. Outdoors My soil ph is about 7.0, maybe a litttle less. To ammened the soil I did 6 parts soil, 2 part promix, 2 part worm castings. After the first rain storm the soil is looking very rich. I will post pictures once all the rain stops and i get a chance to go to my garden.

Well today I go to check out my babies and ther looking pretty good so far. I have i think 8 sprouted now. I placed the lights closer to the plants so their about 2 1/2 " away from the tops of the plants. I've been watering the plants with a spray bottle for now. I plant on changing that once their out of there vegetative state. I will be transplanting them into a 1 gallon bucket once they get a little larger.

Well today I took some more pictures of the little beauties. I think there looking pretty good. I have them under 18/6 light to try and get them a better feeling for the sun when i decide to put them outside.

This is my smallest plant, for some reason she hasn't been getting larger

My 5 outdoor mix plants, there looking good!

My largest plant which is an Asia Girl

My three asia girls which have been doing nicely.

not stretching at all are they? You must have the lights dialed in good!!

? that last pic? what's in those 2 cups in the very back?

There not streching what so ever, the fluorescent bulbs are quite close to the plants, I would say at most 2-3" away and the plants ahve been loving it.

The two cups in the back are for my daughter, she wanted to grow some sunflower's around the garden so we made a small project that she can work on.

After careful thought, i've decided to finish inside. I figured out that it would be quite dangerous to be doing outdoors where I was planning. I plan on buying 3 40 watt 3000k flurescent bulbs (Since i have another t12 fixture).

The new t12 fixture will be laid horizontal to the grow and on the other side it will have 4 42 watt CFL lights to try and help the otherside in flower production.

So it will be like so. I'll have two T-12 Fixtures above the plants (Each containing one 3000k bulb and a 4100k bulbs, both of which will be 40 watts), On the left side of the plants will be another T-12 Ballest horizonal with a 3000k and a 4100k(i might do both 3000k what do you guys thinks?) And on the right side will be 4 CFL 42 Watt 3000k.

I will also be doing a LST on the plants and ill only be vegging them till about there 10th-12th node and force them to flower (After i take clones)

Any suggestions?

I suggest ya keep doing what you have in mind, sounds good to me. How many lumens total is that?

Laughed when I read about the sunflowers, had to do a science project with my daughter a few years ago, decided to do germination methods of tomato seeds, had tomatoes in my growroom for her.......And they claim potsmokers ain't family oriented, LOL

Just doing a rough calculation I came up with about 33700 lumens. I just found some CFL last night that were 2700k so I think i'll go with those this way I get the best light spectrum.

Yeah and with the sunflower seeds, everyday shes runs up to me when she gets home(shes 5) and is like "Daddy are the flowers tall yet?" she doesn't understand that they take time to grow... One day she will and hopefully she'll do some growing of her own.

Yeah the best part of all those is theres no streching in any of my plants. Its quite wonderful especially to see that its not the best grow area. I just keep the lights close to the plants and they've stayed stocky.

So far Ihave about 3-4 plants that are beginning their second node. Its quite exciting. One problem which I have already encountered is my lust to watch them. Everyday I go down and look at them (Even thought I know I won't notice any growth) and I just star at them. Its wonderful. I was thinking I should make a box for it, but right now money is tight in my family. I'm working on trying to lightproof the room. Its almost light proof (Used to be a dark room) but the guy renting the house before us destroyed it.

Meditation could be the perfect word for it =p Its just so relaxing

Zepp you have a fine list os strains there if I don't say so my self. Great job, maybe after this grow ill order some from seedbay to give it a shot (Thats when i'll have my HPS)

Also does anyone know (or guess) how much I should be getting in yield off 9 plants? rough estimate. I'm only going to let them grow till about 1 Ft then veg them, maybe ill let them get a bit taller but im not sure how long they will flower for so i'd rather not take any chances

please dont buy T12!!!

the bulbs are 1.5" dia versus T8 which are 1" !!! you can fit 50% more lights in the same place !!!

16 32W 3000k T8 bulbs are the way to go for flowering!!! 450 watts after .88 ballast factor!

Well 2/3 fixtures i already had just sitting around were t-12's. I will be getting a 400 watt HPS once I move into my new home. I'm planning on building a movable grow room, what I mean by this is that I can dissesemble it (maybe using hindges) and transport it.

Has anyone done this before?

It's hard to say about your yeild. As this is your first grow, don't worry about that so much, just concentrate on a sucessful harvest. A good goal to shoot for is an oz per plant, and hope and pray to the ganja gods they are all female. Don't be upset if you don't hit that goal. This will be a learning experience, and you will pick up a lot of info to help ya tune your system in for future grows. There are lots of experienced growers on here who could get a 1/4 lb per plant easy, like zeppdood, but they've been doing this a long time and have there stuff dialed in so tight it's like second nature. What ya wanna do is start reading threads and glean some knowledge from folks that have a system that works. Pick their brains and ask questions ( by the way, I'm no expert, my best grow ever I had 1 plant I got a 1/4 lb from, and 3 others were slightly less, I'm using a new system, new lights, diff cab now) this is all a learning experience, and I think we all learn new stuff everyday.

what zepp said about us all going to look at our plants everyday is true, I sure do anyway. It's like they're magnets and they just draw me in there.

Well I went back today to check out my little babies. I put them into 12/12 because of time I was forced to not let them veg for as long as I would have liked. I starting doing some LST on some of the plants and I think I will continue to, at the same time I'm not going to do it to all my plants as this is a learning experience and what to see how they grow w/o the lst.

One of my plants has some yellowing/brown spot on the leaves
If anyone knows what it is, I'd be greatful. (Just a reminder I've used all the same products on all the plants each getting the same of everything)

These are my three smallest plants. The smallest will be put outdoors for a friend of mine who will continue to take care of it.

This is the plants before the LST

And these are the plants after LST

And of course I will be Using these ferts on my next watering.

So far I think they are looking pretty good.

Should I just leave it be or should I add some nitrogen to the plant?
