does it work? Can it replace opioids in chronic pain patients? What if taken while enjoying cannabis?

I can't answer your question, but are you familiar with the show Hamilton's Pharmacopeia on VICE? This dude knows his shit and the next episode (Dec. 12th) is about Kratom.

Although kratom is not an opiate.. it is not derived from opium, or an opioid.. it's not synthetic. It does fill in the same receptors that opioids and opiates do.

Kratom by itself is not supposed to cause withdrawals. However extracts made from kratom such as O.P.M.S. GOLD kratom definitely do cause withdrawal symptoms. The gold's give you the exact same pain relief and euphoria as well

I had great results taking Kratom for pain. My issue was that my tolerance level increased almost immediately, and the second time I tried it was half as effective and a few doses later it was practically useless. I've tried a handful of different strains and techniques since and haven't ever been able to find an effective dosage since. I have no idea how typical or unusual that is.
