 hey IC

Names Kosmo or you can call me Kos. just wanted to start a thread over here, maybe get some feedback before i start another amazing coco grow. ive been lurking this coco forum for months now, its about time i start a thread.

This is my first grow in coco. Growing in a coco mix of 50%coco/ 10%OrganicAlive/ 15% Perlite/ 25%FFOceanForest with perlite at the bottom. after giving this mix a go, i have to say ive seen amazing growth rates compared to soil. next time iam gonna 100% coco with lava rocks at the bottom.

Cab: just a ghetto cab, made out of pvc and black plastic and duck tape :D 3x5x4
Nutes: week1-2 plain RO water
from then on in veg- RO/tap water mix(50/50mix) with Canna coco A+B @5-7ml/gal and a few drops of pro-silicate=6.1
bloom first weeks- RO/Tap mix with canna coco A+B @10-14ml/gal
bloom 5th week- RO/Tap mix with canna coco A+B @10ml/gal and PK @ 5ml/gal

ok enough with the typing time for some uploading...

NOTE: BABYS ARE IN 31 DAYS OF 12/12
Another Note: the newer pictures have PM bc i was using perlite and not keeping the exhaust on 24/7 producting PM. used perlite in coco mix and bottom of the pots. I also use perlite to fruit mushrooms, I just soke perlite drain and place in a pot to gives a humid(98% humidity) environment for the mushrooms to thrive. This high humidity plus+ not having the exhaust fan on 24/7 = PM(powder mildew) our humity around my county is already high...

thanks dude

that cheap old pvc/duck tape cab/tent cost only 10$ to make(if that) and my upcoming cabs will all be made strong. using wood and poly white plastic instead of black. but this last year ive been moving almost monthly so i need a cab i can just lift and go.

Thanks for stopping by VT.

heres some more shots taken today, bc of my living arrangement these baby's come down in a week :(

but next cab ill be well made. and now that i got my hands into coco, i wanna grow some COCO TREEEEEESSSSSSS.

ok so heres my plan for the new VEG/BLOOM cab.
1. wood cab/tent 3x8x7ft
2. 100% coco coir with lava rocks at the bottom of the pots
3. bc this will basically be like a hallway cab, need 2 intake points(a fan at both sides of the cab)
4. scrubber, decided iam gonna try kitty litter as my active carbon.
5. drip fed, drain-to-waist, simple 5 gallon bucket rez, plants get nutrients 6 days out of the week, and on Sundays i flush.
6. mylar or paint the inside the cab white.
7. vertical lighting, 2x 400w, 1x 600w. arranged like so OXOXO (X=plant, O=light) also bc iam gonna do vertical heat wont be a big deal, lucky where i live heats not a problem anyways
8. LST/NST
9. only one exhaust, sucking the scrubber in the room
10. canna nutrients

ok heres my plans for the new PREVEG cab
1. wood cab/tent 2x3x4ft
2. 100% coco coir with lava rocks at the bottom of the pots
3. one intake fan
4. one exhaust blower w/ no scrubber
5. ebb&flow table. i got the idea last night, could say it came to me in a dream. a nice wooden cab with a ebb&flow table simple 5gallon bucket rez. and a simple switch to water them.
6. mylar or paint the inside the cab white.
7. CFL, about every 6in another CFL
8. canna nutrients

ok heres my plans for the new CLONE cab
1. pvc/duck tape cab 1.5x1.5x3ft
2. aero-cloner, made out of a 5gallon bucket
3. one CFL
4. plain plastic black walls/trash bag
5. plain RO/Tap water mix in the aero-cloner

OK time for those shots

I once considered (and researched) zeolite for a DIY scrubber also....much less expensive than activated carbon....I'll be watching for that....

I have more questions about your layout, but will wait for the new show...which is gonna be a good one, based on what you're doing with the duct tape cab

Nice budshots!

also i wanted to talk about how offen i water these babies...
bc iam in a bascally soil and coco mix. Growing in a coco mix of 50%coco/ 10%OrganicAlive/ 15% Perlite/ 25%FFOceanForest with perlite at the bottom.
Veg: waterd every 2-3days
Bloom: waterd every other day

i thought and bc its a soil and coco mix why not treat them like soil. i didnt get bad results thats forsure. anyways thought i'd share that will you guys. alot of thread about watering in coco here, and i wanted to show that u dont ALWAYS got to water everyday. either way rock on IC

Wassup, Kosmo? Very nice looking grow. I envy those who seem to have everything in it's place and it all works like a well oiled machine. The fact you've been growing for a while shows in the way you've organized your grow area. Nice.

One thing about coco, and this comes from my experience only, is that you'll experience your best results watering at least once a day to a 10%-20% runoff. About halfway into flower, I even kick this up to twice a day - always to runoff - cause the plants use more water/nutrients starting about then.

The above applies only to 100% coco grows. Since only 50% of your medium is made up of coco, I can't really speak intelligently on the watering schedule. Seems like the soil component would cause more water retention and that would be why you were able to water less frequently.

One of the many benefits of using coco is that you don't have to add anything to it to get premo results. Coco by itself holds onto the exact amount of water and oxygen it needs to make it to the next day's watering and it's adjusted to this level within probably 5 minutes after you've watered! It's due to this ability to quickly adjust to each watering that growers are able to water up to 4 times a day and achieve results close to hydro levels. It also has a tendency to buffer the pH a little if it doesn't get too far out of whack. It grows our plants so well that I don't really know why anyone would want to add anything. It sure doesn't take anything else to get maximum results in my experience. Just be sure you buy premium coco that's been pre-washed so the coco doesn't have too much residual salts in it. Also use coco specific nutes. Water every day to 10%-20% runoff. Keep your feedwater pH between 5.2 and 6.2 (I use 5.8). That's it, nothing more. Simple. IMO.

Peace

very well said bro, i could have said it better myself.

yea i forgot to say i water 10-15% run-off. but yea if it wasnt for the other 50% soil in the mix, i would water the atleast once a day.
ive been lurking this coco forums for a long time now, and ive loved all your posts mojo, thanks bro... ill see you around
