Kodiak Gold and Kodiak Gold x Skunk Special !!

whats up everyone? i'm proud to announce a litte successful cross i made for the purpose of getting big fat ripe buds that were ready to harvest by late sept/ early oct. and being mold resistant.

not only did everything turn out just as planned but i even got way more then i expected. i took my favorite KG male and crossed it with my biggest yielding and early SS...both strains are excellent for mold resistance.

the first pics here are of just straight KG from the seeds i made from a 12 pack i ordered and grew them out and selected my favorite parents. they were just about ripe mid sept but i let them go for a few cold nights and they purpled up excellent!

the next group of pics are of a KG x SS pheno that leaned more on the KG side and also purpled up nicely after a few cold nights!

here is my new outdoor pride and joy, it's the KG x SS leaning towards the SS side but with some nice KG qualities also.

the straight KG and the KG x SS pheno that leaned on the KG side got pollinated so they didn't get maximum bud size but they are nice and rock hard just like the orginal KG is.

the KG x SS pheno that leaned on the SS side got lightly pollinated but the buds are monsters....the top cola measured in at 25 inches and weighed 3 ounces....the whole plant was 15 ounces....there wasn't any popcorn trim on this plant...every single bud was a keeper, big , huge, and dense. i harvested it the first week of oct.

so my first breeding plan i ever pulled off worked to perfection and i'm one happy grower....i made myself a monster strain that yields massive rock hard buds that get done in time for my area and is totally mold resistant.

i got these off to a late start and neglected them for the first month because they were from seed and i had other clones out that i took care of more, but when i seen these beasts start to take off i took better care of them...next year they are getting most of my attention and i want to see what i can yield if i get them out early and take care of them from beginning to end. my plan is to take the breeding program further and try to stablize this.

i'm also working on KG x HTC skunk and KG x the pure....i believe KG is a good strain to grow and breed with....we all know how good the skunks are to breed with....i think when you combine them it brings out the best of both sides that may be hiding from the inbreeding.

here's a couple more pics but i don't know how well you can see my pics because either my camera sucks, i need a tripod, or i'm always to ripped.

i'll have full smoke reports after they cure for a couple more weeks.

well if anyone has any questions or anything just ask....peace

Excellent! I see you got some purple KG nugs now. I bet your excited. I can't wait to pop my KG beans. There isn't too many KG reports and it's nice to see somemore KG buds. Congrats on the cross turning out. I plan on doing some crosses with the KG myself.

i hear ya, your gonna like them KG's. they do great outdoors, finish up pretty quickly and they are real good to use for some crosses. i still think that KG x DC would be something special.

you got that right...i was way happy when i seen them KG's purpling up.....i'm not sure if it was because of a pheno or the cold nights...personally from what i observed it was the cold nights so i'm pretty sure any KG outdoor with some cold nights would turn purple. in mid sept when i could of picked it she was golden like normal KG but it did have a tint of purple but after the temps started dropping a little later in sept i seen her purple up fast.

the ironic part about the KG x SS is i call them thunderskunk if you remember me saying that before i ever even tested them......the funny part is it was suppose to rain for 3 days and get really cold so when i went to go get them that night it started to thunder and i actually harvested them in a thunderstorm....so i guess the name fit them pretty good!

Nice looking cross. How much did she stretch in flowering?

I've got some Kodiak Gold flowering now that I'm looking forward to trying. I started them fairly small and they haven't stretched too bad indoor. I have a cross or two in mind myself for indoor purposes.

By the way, the standard way of indicating crosses is mother x father, which would make this Skunk Special x Kodiak Gold. Don't want to sound picky, it's just the norm that most people are used to.

Ambre mine didnt stretch at all when turned inside or out....branched out a lil but not up...wasnt what I was expecting out of an indica...god willing it will be in my stable for yrs to come...every joint leaves sticky lips half way through...stay safe

The Kodiak Gold should be excellent breeding stock. It should also be dominant in the cross. I don't know if the female or male is more dominant. Some strains the male is more domiant then the female, but sometimes females are more dominant. This is important because if you want to cross it to another strain and want a 50/50 mix of the two strains then you should go with the least dominant one. This way the cross will show some of the other strains traits instead of just being the same. I'm interested to work with some IBL's for breeding just to see which ones are more dominant then others.

Nice one, Time2Unite! Glad to see they did well outside. Plan on trying some KG next season , as well as Nigerian Nightmare. You grew that as well, right?
When does KG usually finish, early Oct.? I ran some Biddy Early's this yr. and was impressed. (Early Skunk X Warlock) Kinda similar to what you've done.
Anyway, nice work! :D:yes:

high&lonesome- i used a skunk special from female seeds for this cross.

ambre- the pheno from the kodiak side barely stretched at all just like the kodiak doesn't stretch at all....KG x SS or SS x KG is the same difference to me....but thunderskunk sounds more cool then skunkthunder lol

highlighter- yes i grew the nigerian nightmares also...they are a great outdoor strain and cure up to smell kinda skunky with nice fat chunky buds. from what i noticed you could harvest KG in mid sept but if you want more amber trichs and some purple you could let her go late sept/early oct....biddy early has been on my list for a long time i just haven't got around to it yet!

masterlow- i'm not doing any smoke reports until they are cured properly....best thing i can tell you right now is both the KG and the thunderskunks gets everyone just blazed right now.

thanks to everyone else for the nice comments! i'll be having some nigerian nightmare, schnazzleberry, great garberville, and some hash threads comin up shortly!

Cool deal, it is fun growing out your own crosses ain't it? Looks like a good cross, I thought the Kodiak looked like good genetics to work with too. Happy buds.

damn whats up folks? smoke report huh....i'll get on that asap but i'm already to high right now so it wouldn't be a fair report...next day or two forsure. but for now i'll tell you it's the best all around outdoor i've grown....big fat dense colas, nice bag appeal, sweet taste and a long lasting stone...i mean hours of being blazed then she winds down slow. i'll go more in depth later.

i love growing my own crosses...i got more in the making in the htc forum check it out if your interested....i'm crossing htc skunk x htc skunk....the pure x htc skunk....kodiak gold x htc skunk...two ibls collide it should be great. kg are really nice stable genetics to work with haps.....good meds too

later guys

I'm liking the sounds of the Kodiak Gold x HTC Skunk. This should be interesting results and some true F1's. Now you can find out which IBL is more dominant.

Time2unite,

Very nice pics and selections. I havent grown KG but have been fantasizing about it since RM released them. F1's Rock!

whats up peeps.....i'm real excited to try out the kg x htc skunk....i love the ss x kg but i think the htc skunk ibl is gonna be better then the ss so i'm pretty excited. i'm hoping for big yields and skunky or dank taste fromt he skunk and the rock hard mold resistant creeper long lasting buzz from the kg....it worked out just as planned for the ss x kg so i'm hoping them are the dominant traits of each parent in this cross too.

zero paranoia or racy in the high...i don't like paranoia or racy so i'd never use a strain for a keeper or making crosses that have that high....i'll get anxiety and everyone knows that isn't fun.

the head is pretty clear...i'll describe what happens....i'll smoke a bowl and set it down...i'll think to myself this weed isn't that potent cause i barely have a buzz...i'll forget about it for 10 minutes and next thing you know my eyes drop down like dental floss and i get a grin....then i think to myself how i love this weed and i'm numb...it's mainly a body buzz but won't knock you out for the day....the buzz duration is a long one...i'll be really stoned for about 2 hours but then it gradually tapers off and lasts a long time...if i smoke a doob at noon i can still feel that i smoked weed at supper time....ofcourse i won't still be blazed or anything but i can defintatly tell i smoked that day....you know what i mean....later
