knowing when to quit

G

growhigh1233

i recently suffered my 2nd police raid in less than 5 years .............only 1 hobby room with maybe 20 plants and 1 600w light ..............the only thing that was different to my first raid, was this time i entire seed collection was taken ...over 10 years of work. and seed collecting, home cross's and seed preservation projects ....grinspoon,f13,johnny blaze , grape crush, and numerous others, they have taken everything from me ............to add insult to injury the police don't even seem to want to charge me with anything............they've just took my life's work for nothing

never thought id say this, but i just feel like giving up on the hobby i love................just all feels so hopeless atm

guess im just posting this to vent ..but any thoughts or advice would be great

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. The pork seem to act like ruining people's lives is their job. Protect and serve has gone to stalk and harass. Sad state of affairs.

Hopefully you don't get any charges. Seeds probably gone for good which is sickening, but hopefully your freedom stays intact.

I'd consider moving the hell away from wherever it is you are.

Best vibes for the best possible outcome!

Happened to me in 2003 - when I was living in Holland - the cops came and took anything and everything grow related - as we were just harvesting a big seed crop - luckily I wasn't at the house at the time - but the person who was got released without charge after being held for only 2 hours - lost what we were working with at the time - and kilos of seeds - all ended up in a big police dumpster - was a sad day indeed - you have my sympathies growhigh1233 -

So sorry for you Growhigh1233. I also tend to think you should change neighbourhood and, I don't know your situation but maybe fill the papers of this new housing using the name of another family member. Hope everything will get better for you starting from now

What a horrible thing to go through. I hope you find some clarity as I can only imagine how violated and stressed you must feel.

I was robbed by LE about 6 years ago in Los Angelos. They raided some of our warehouses, left the others untouched, stole several lbs of dried flower they never reported, tossed our non-profit paperwork on the roof, charged us with felonies that took two years to get dismissed, and even smashed the pipes connected to the RO tank flooding an entire building that housed other businesses. Gangster shit, right. The lead cop even put a gun to my face and said he’d shoot my friend if I didn’t give him information.

It took two years, but that paperwork that got tossed on the roof ended up saving me. I knew I was powerless, but when that judge ordered the Gardena Police department to return all of our seized equipment and the 100’s of now dead plants, I felt on top of the world even though it was a Pyrrhic victory. I left the business. It wasn’t the first time LEO had robbed me or someone I knew. I guess I lost a lot of my balls, as I completely got the fug out.

I never gave up my passion though. I still grow, now just much much less and only for myself and family. I even bought a lock for my tent just to be “compliant.” I keep everything locked up now. After hearing your story, I’m going to look for alternatives to keep my beans safe.

My friend was visited a couple months ago as he still runs his non profit. They destroyed 500 plants but left the rest alone, didn’t give him a ticket, court date or anything. They just told him they were aware of him and he needed to stay within his limit.

I hope once you recover from the shock that you’ll find some strength to help guide you to your next decision.

Just this guy, ya know?
They don't charge you with a crime because that would give you a chance to have your day in court and you might do something crazy like mention jury nullification, so they just never charge you with anything instead. It's straight up thuggery. I feel like the America of the 21st century is gonna be fascist as fuck.

First off, was it a legal raid? Warrant, etc? Do you think its worth talking to a lawyer? Seems odd they didn't charge you.
Second, I'm guessing moving isn't an option since you didn't mention it, so if it were me, I would take a break until it becomes legal - and I believe it will in the near future.
And I'm sorry about your seeds. I hope at some point you can get back on your feet. Shits unfair and cruel.

i just wanna say a big thanks to everyone for providing some perspective and great advice ...............i am in the process of moving to pastures new ..............cant let the bastards get us down ......i hope to pop some seeds before the year is out .....and to learn and grow of this shitty experience

in a way having too start from zero and search out new phenos is a new adventure...with new discoveries :)

At the very real risk of sounding cliche, but, I would say don't give up on this hobby/passion if it is actually a passion, just have a break and think about it another day.
Seeds are fun to collect but they're just another asset, nothing you can't replace.... you still have whatever you have learned over the whole time and i'm sure people would even help you out if you wanted to scrape up some genetics of what you may have hoped to experiment with in the past, without having to spend whatever money you may have over the years.
You certainly wouldn't need to start from scratch again.... i'm sure you gained enough knowledge to fast track yourself to some sort of recovery.

OR, maybe you learn that it was fun but you don't really need it anymore.

I'm sure you will be able to move on, in whatever direction you want.... it sucks but could be worse. :ying:

Dude, I'm so sorry. I hate reading shit like this. Unless the piggy's have any evidence of trafficking, do-it-yourself suing in civil court (small claims) should at least get your light back if you want. Best of luck whatever you do. Take special heed from the boss, he knows, stay positive.
