Kessil H350 Magenta PAR Measurements

I recently ordered a Kessil H350 Magenta as supplemental lighting to my HID lights and was not able to find any PAR reading for it. Being a grad student in horticulture, I thought i would check for myself and share my findings. I measured a 500 mm squared (approx. 1.6 sq. feet) area under the surface of the light (the size of the sensor).

PAR Meter: Apogee QMSS Quantum Meter
Sensor: Apogee SQ-326: Electric Calibration Line Quantum with 6 Sensors

Results:
3' - 34 µmol·m-2s-1
2' - 71 µmol·m-2s-1
1.5' - 127 µmol·m-2s-1
1' - 182 µmol·m-2s-1
6" - 409 µmol·m-2s-1

I don't have a power consumption meter on me so I can't do the calculations (advertised at 84W) for PAR/W but I think this light should preform alright for some supplemental red.

An update on this - I spoke to a lighting researcher today who indicated that the Apogee meter i used would not pick up some of the red peaks put out by LEDs. I'll have to check this again using another meter.

Mhmm. I think I have read people chiming in that the apogee meter is not calibrated for the colors we are really after, something about the algorithm? I don't know if that is the same for LED's or an even bigger challenge?
