Keif Box Screens

Hey all,

I have built a few keif boxes for my friends and I have built the frames for the screens but I'm not sure what size of screen should be used or where I should get it at.

I have built two kinds of boxes a one screen version and 2 screen version.

Do any of you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I hear art supply shops sell the micron fabric.

but I'm in the same boat. I'm going to do some searching and try to find out.

What I'd really like to have though is a plastic mircron screen or something that can be cleaned rather than a fabric.

I've had trouble with metal screens and glands bursting. once they burst enough they clog up the holes. so I'd freeze them and scrape them. which led to tears.

can you freeze the cloth and smack the shit out of it to clean it without it tearing or something? thats what I wanna know.

Hey, you need anywhere between 130-150 micron, you can sieve with a 130 then do a run with the 150 depends on how potent ya want your hash :D

a good mesh size to use for your stash kif box would be between 100 ~ 135 lines per inch mesh, the approximate micron equivelent mesh size would 150 ~ 110 micron mesh.

depending on the strain being dry sifted "120 mesh" or "125 micron mesh" is the most popular mesh size.

I prefer dual screen dry sifting.....first with a 110 ~120 lpi mesh with then sieve the rough resin through a 125 ~ 140 lpi mesh several times for very clean dry sifted resin,

With a gentle action and good quality starting material you should get white blonde resin that bubbles when fired up

"micron" is a Metric measurement, one million micron = one metre.

Mesh sizes quoted in micron tells us the exact distance inbetween two parellel threads.... This type of measurement is far more accurate than mesh described by "lines per inch".

often, mesh or screen frames sold in the US are referred to as eg "100 Mesh" or eg "100 lines per inch mesh" or "100 l.p.i. mesh", not in micron...this method counts the number of parellel threads or lines per linear inch.

some mesh or mesh frames are sold online with charts showing both the micron and lpi measurements for each mesh size.

happy sifting
